HA! another Im new thread. Anyway, I am new to the forum and new to minis! So far I am loving mine. I bought a 2003 red mini sport from my step mom. Has 18k on it now. I have been driving it for about a month. Other than the glove box that falls open after every month and the 22mpg I love the car!!! Just wanted to say hello to my fellow mini drviers!

Various glove box fixes are available here, just do a little searching.
As for the 22 mpg... there is an area between just idling and -WOOT! Wide open throttle!- that you can use occasionally (as hard as that is to believe) which will increase your mileage somewhat.
Took me two months to find it.
You guys are so great! Thanks for making me feel welcome. I have been getting so many great replies and no one has made fun of me once for asking questions!!! :P Thanks a million! Now off to look for a glove box fix.
Welcome and cool that you have a red MINI. Can't wait to see pics of your sweet ride. You've already gotten some good advice on boosting your MPG which shows NAM has a wealth of information.
I'm new too but 22mpg is ridiculous. I drove like a bat out of hell with my '03mcs ALL THE TIME and still averaged 25mpg.
I have two counters on mine... The lifetime counter is like 22.5mpg. My tank counter hovers between 22-26mpg. I still can't find this grey area mariner is talking about... You mean the gas pedal isn't a toggle switch? =]
One time I tried my hardest to make it to work getting the best MPG possible. I was keeping it steady at 32mpg all the way to the freeway on ramp but then I forgot about my mission to get good MPG and save the environment so I launched up the on-ramp. hehe After settling in the fast lane and shifting to 4th from 5500 rpm in 3rd, I suddenly recalled my mission and looked at the mileage counter to see it already at 28mpg. haha
