looks like it may be tuesday!

i feel somewhat guilty about posting because so many of you are still waiting but my excitement won out over my guilt...

i got an email late this afternoon saying that my car should be ready for delivery on Tuesday, 10/7/08.

things are falling into place - got my cocomats last thursday, bank check on friday, so aside from calling my insurance company on monday, i'm ready!!!

i will post pictures and i will be watching this thread for all my week 38 friends to get their cars too.

Steve

Way to go Steve- can't wait to see the pix! They'll give me something to hold onto while I wait (hopefully NOT with a boat load of Peugots!)

Draik, My MA replied to my e-mail this afternoon that I am still sitting in England....since the 22nd. We've missed three or four boats now!

Doo- what gives? Did JoMo tell you WHY you're still in Jolly Ol' England? How 'bout his car? I think one of them is on the Sierra Nevada Highway with me & Jakery... (and the peugots?). But the other is with you certainly?!

THis is beyond wierd. WHY would you be still sitting there? I think we need to commandeer a transport and go get your car!
So sorry buddy-

Hey DooBahDoo, I'm feeling the same way. Not only is the excitement dying, but the frustration is killing the MINI love. It is giving me time to say goodbye to Mouse, my o4mc, but there's something wrong with the later weeks going around us for their cruise.

At least I have Mouse, I feel for those that are waiting for their "first".

My Kiawah trip is off. The marathon is full.

I can't believe so many of you are still waiting -- except that those hurricanes/storms must have held up a lot of shipping. I'm very surprised they don't get a whole weeks worth of production on the same or very similar ships.

Something to note though is that by the time my MA and the OC knew my mini was on its way it had already landed in this country.

I'm sure this whole thread will have them before thanksgiving -- and wont that be something to be thankful for!!!

Yes- congrats Signcarver & we can't wait to see pix.

I'm a bit perplexed as to why our other comrades are still at the dock and why they haven't been given an explanation. It seems highly illogical! I'm just hoping that maybe, just maybe, they've snuck on board and are stowed away-

That sounds just like something Draik's Naz would do. Sneak the kids on board and have them hide, leaving all the moms and dads worried sick.

Signcarver, I think you will be the first week 38er to take delivery! I might get mine on Tueday as well, but more likely Thursday because I have the day off. Congrats! Can't wait to see the photos!!

I am so sorry for all of you guys waiting on boats...the situation is getting fishy! I have heard that sometimes the dealer allocations and the production slots don't match well and sometimes that means the cars are built and can't be officially delivered...but that seems really stupid to me. Anyway, I hope you guys get some good news soon.

Just reading week 39 and 40 builds and there are Mini's in both of these weeks that are on ships. What is going on? Some of us have been sitting for 2 + weeks and others are finished with a build and 3 days later on a ship. Very confusing.

Well guys, I finally found some time to finish the windows version of SMOT and it looks like the miniusa website has changed format. So, as far as I can tell, the MacOS widget(SMOT), and the Windows version (CRACKPIPE) won't work any longer.

I've emailed the website and hopefully they'll expose an interface we can use to update SMOT and get CRACKPIPE working.

I'm glad everyone seems to like my use of the word "CrackPipe" to describe the blasted phone line

Thanks jumboshrimp and DooBahDoo (love your name - makes me smile every time i read it)

Good luck on Thursday jumboshrimp!

Somehow i lucked out on the fast delivery???. My MA did tell me that they had a production slot opening up the day after i ordered so maybe that had something to do with it.

Doesn't it seem like the Clubmans are slower to get made / delivered?

Today my wife helped me clean out the garage so my MINI will have a nice clean home! She is the best - coming up on our 43rd anniversary in May!

Was driving on a local highway that's littered with car dealers and was very very tempted to walk into one, point to a vehicle and take delivery right away. Delay is definitely getting old and frustration is starting to sink in. MA says I'm still sitting but estimated date of arrival is Oct 21st(which seems an unlikely estimate since I'm still not on a boat). Part of the frustration is the increase in spending from extending my current vehicle's insurance and not-as-good-mpg vehicle. ARGH!

IzzyG, I'm with you. Since the wreck of my '08 MCS I've been forced to drive my full-size, gas-guzzling p/u. I have been so tempted to do the same thing...stop by a dealer, point to a car and say, "I'll take that one". I love MINI's and have enjoyed owning them but I'm a stickler for communication and customer service and this situation is unacceptable at best...just my 2 cents...so please don't disown me guys.

Draik, Have you talked to anyone at your dealership? Any news at all? As of yesterday at around 3pm my MA said there was no update...I'm still sitting dockside in England. If I were a stress-eater I would have to cancel the order and get a bigger car by now...

This is what's bothering me as well- Before I even ordered my Clubbie, I was under the impression that communication & customer service was top notch- but this whole thing with you really has me thinking something is wrong at the source. From everything I can tell, even our MA's are a bit out of the loop, and that is not normal for them (from what I can gather). Has anyone called CRACKPIPE and asked a human what is going on? or for that matter called MINIUSA directly?
IMHO I truly think the lack of communication and lack of knowledge about what is going on, is not our MA's fault, I think it's further up the food chain. If MINIUSA knew that you, DooBahDoo, and others were considering getting a different vehicle solely based on this lack of communication & customer service, maybe some answers would be forthcoming.
Doo- I'm like you- a stickler for the service and communications. And I believe our money talks.

I love me some Vivi. The on-strike icons are too cute! You're right because my MA, his wife, and I ordered our cars days apart. His wife's car is on a boat with yours and he & I are left at port. He has no clue why we are still sitting. They have cars released to their dealership that were produced after ours so it can't be dealer allocation...and we all three ordered clubmans so it's not the body-type that's causing delay either. At any rate this unacceptable.

On another note we stopped into the Loveless today for brunch and I was SO tempted to call you. There were four MINI's in the parking lot...and we were in my truck! Our other MCS is too small for three (and we don't share our cars)...Where oh where is my Clubman?!?

OK, I am officially MAD now. My status changed on the 866 the day FEDORA got into port. It changed from "sitting at the port" to "in transit" the hour FEDORA left and all week it has said that is was still "in transit". I was kind of worried when it still doesn't come up on the WW tracking site. Now I called today, just to see if it could update me and now it says "sitting at the port". What the living hell, did it fall off the ship? I have been sitting at the port since the 22nd with a few of you. This sucks, takes 13 days to get to SC and now I find out I am not even on a freaking ship?

JBM, We're there with you and all about to bust a move on some MINI Manager's head <or> heaven forbid pop an aneurism. I need some time to transfer money from savings to checking for the funds to be available when the car arrives. This S-U-C-K-S! We'll get Vivi to create a montra incorporating our new sentiment.
