New Member needs purchasing advice

Hi Folks,
I am a brand new member to this list. I am going to order a 2009 Mini Cooper S hardtop shortly. It will have manual transmission and I will drive it in upstate New York winters. I am a sports oriented driver but my wife is not. Your opinions on whether I should get the Sport option would be appreciated. Is the non-sport suspension adequate for occasional spirited driving or is the sport package a 'must have'?

Also, are there any changes/ options that are expected to be available on the '09s MCS or are they expected to be essentially unchanged from the '08s?

Best,
John D.

I hope you get snow tires. Without them my Mini would slide down the driveway instead of going up. And it's not even on a hill.
