What is the approximate wait time from when the car is being painted?
Actually I have a practical application for this question. I need to private sell my current car and try to time it right.

That depends on where you're located. It'll be a few days from paintshop to out of production, then it depends on how fast it can catch a ship. I have him on a ship the day after production, or waiting at the port for 2 weeks. Then it has to cross the ocean, so are you onthe left or right cost, then get from there to your dealer.

They obsess over this sort of thing in the first gear forum.
