Looking so hard

I cant seem to find the *right* mini for me only a few have made me go " I really want this car" and I dont know what to do I've been looking for around 8 months. Leasing a brand new one seems to be cheaper monthly than financing an older one but they had to go and discontinue jet black and liquid yellow and I've never owned a brand new car before and I'd be so worried, I was looking into the MINI next too but again I cant find one that I'm really loving. Is there any suggestions you can give me? Anything in your car you absoloutly love? things I should avoid? thanks!

Bite the bullet and get a new one. You won't regret it and can order it exactly the way you want it.

Is there a particular reason you don't want to finance a new MINI? With all the possible options, it's pretty difficult to find a used MINI that fits you perfectly. You mentioned the jet black being discontinued, well Astro Black got the ax recently, so the 09s may be providing something more along the jet black look if that's what you're going for.

This is true. Start with which one you want - MC, MCS, Cabrio, Clubman and then move to options ('coz your color choice will MOST LIKELY change daily.) If your budget doesn't cut it for a new one, then ask us again - I have some good links to do pre-owned MINI research. And contact your nearest MINI club - they're not only for fun things, but they can be a support group too!

Quoted for truth.

I never planned Laser Blue / Black until I was actually given the green light by my bank to go ahead and order. My plans were either lightning blue / white, or dark silver / black. I test drove a Laser Blue at the dealership, realized how much I actually enjoyed the color, and looked at white and black tops, finally settling on black. But one day I'll order a blue/white and silver/black. Gotta collect em all

I would definitely suggest ordering a new Mini. The financing on either a used or new car is somewhat of a pain (this is assuming you won't buy outright), and if you order the car you can get exactly what you want.

Both Mini/BMW financing and PenFed have been really good to me, and my credit is less-than-stellar.

I just can't get over the fact that I'm ordering the perfect car for me. And I'm sure after I've had it a while there will be something I regret getting/not getting, but that's what mods are for.

Best of luck to you as you find the Mini that's right for you!!!

I went the lease route for the free servicing and option after 3 years to purchase or trade in for a new model. When I leased 14 months ago, the '07 was not that much more than the pre-owned models. MINI does keep its value.

Why not go to a dealer, walk around the lot, and see what strikes you? Or have you done this already? However, I've heard that a lot of MINIs have sold since gasoline prices cracked $4 per gallon, and some dealers have fewer MINIs on hand than they had just recently.

I've been to 3 mini dealers and found nothing for my price range everything on the lots was around 26 and none i was willing to spend that much on.

26K seems steep. Perhaps then if you build you own MINI without some of the packages like sport or cold weather (depending where you live). How did the prices run for pre-owned?

my only problem with ordering a new one is that I'm moving august 10th and I need a car to get me down to miami and I have zero time to shop or deal withbuying a car once I'm down there. I know I want either an MCS or a cabrio. Financing new is too steep of a monthly payment I cant go too high over 350/mo. thanks so much guys! seriously has been the craziest 8 months searching for a car but its seriously time to get one seeing as my daily was totalled by a firemarshall 2 weeks ago!

Totalled? That's horrible. Hope you weren't hurt. And a Fire Marshall? Hope insurance isn't a hassle. Better yet, hope you get fully reimbursed by the municipality. Best of luck with your search.

An accident like that is beyond words. Glad the injuries weren't worse, and hope you and your Mom are well on the road to recovery.

Ladyfox - Lots of sympathy...

How about trying some of the classified ads on this website (NAM). I've noticed quite a few for the FL region... so maybe it might not be as big a hassle if you pre-coordinate before you get there...? good luck!

Hi LadyFox,
First, so sorry on the accident. Best wish for a speedy recovery for you and Mum.

Our pre-Clubbie incarnation was an Audi allroad 2.7T, which I loved, but was murdered in a hit-and-run. We went with the S Clubbie and cannot love it more. If you want the additional space, with option to comfortably seat adults in back, or if you have/transport/will transport little ones, Clubman is the way to go. If you're off to Florida, I recommend Braman Mini of Miami. It's where my father-in-law gets those *other* German cars that he foolishly purchases.

I would have suggested you try ZipCar until you make your decision, but it looks they only go as far south as Gainesville.

My last thought: Try Craig's List. No joke. Friends of ours in Providence, RI found a used Clubbie on CL for only $20K. Buy new and limit your package choices!!!! You won't regret it.

Good luck!!!
