New Owner Checking In!

Hi Folks,

Just bought a 05 MCS JCW Pepper White (what a beautiful color!) with 33k miles over the weekend and couldn't be happier! I am a complete newb to Mini's (drove it once....my mom's 04 MC but base model and Auto tranny), and my sister-in-law has one too. Main reason for the purchase was to cut down on gas consumption and finally deciding to sell my current daily driver (see picture).

Have a quick question, and sorry if I'm reposting here (first posted this in the Marketplace section): I am not too crazy about the chrome 18" wheels the seller slapped on. So I'm looking for a set of 4 - R90 17" Cross Spoke Wheel Set (silver). Anyone know where I can get them a little cheaper other than going to the dealership and paying full price? Please PM or email.

Thanks,
Charles

Pics of my 05 MCS JCW - Enjoy!

Can you now see why I need to get rid of those blingy wheels?

Great pics! Nice Mini! I love that color 2, I got my self one, still not here "on the boheme", and I don't like the wheels aether, the 17 Cross Spoke will look amazing. Sorry I can't help with the wheels, but your doing a good job in changing them, everything else looks perfect!

Congrats!

Thanks MiniNova! Any idea how much the R90's weigh? Any other wheel recommendations other than the R90's on Pepper White?

I think eBay has several sets for around $500 ish. I've had my eye on them too.
(The R90s - not the blingy ones)

Warm Reception!

Thanks everyone for the warm reception! Looks like a great place to hang out!

Now help me out with my wheels situation! So other than the OEM R90's that I'm looking for (is Ebay the way to go?), what other wheels do you recommend for the Pepper White? I like the designs of BBS LM's and Works wheels, and in silver/alloys only - not too big on white, black, coated, chrome, etc...

Charles

Love the pepper/black combo (my personal favorite). Coming from an e34 M5, what are your initial impressions of the mini? Different animals to say to least. As for wheels, I'm sure if you were to post a WTT in the parts forum you'd find someone willing to trade you for stockers in no time. If you're thinking about aftermarket, LMs are rather steep $$$. I don't even know if them make 'em for the MCS. If you talking about reps, LM reps look pretty cheap IMO.

Oh, I think they are replicas. They claim to be made to manufacturer's specs however. I bought a set of Audi RS4 wheels this way and was very happy with them. Audi wanted approx. $450 a rim and I ended up buying a set of 4 for $600. I'm very finicky about these things and since I had a good experience I may be making an assumption on these R90 auctions. I'd check the seller's feedback and go from there.

Here are a couple of listings that may help. The first one is for the OEM R90s with tires. The second: replicas, no tires. I have the R85s and am considering these R90s on eBay, if I buy 'em I'll definitely post up as to their quality.

Thanks for those links, enricosonic! Do you know what size the run-flat tires are? I saw the ad for the replicas on Ebay earlier today...did you buy your RS4 replica wheels from this seller? Anyone else have any experience or feedback with this Ebay seller (wheelsandcaps)?

They're 205/45/17s. That's what I have on mine anyway.
I did indeed buy my RS4 replicas from this seller several years ago. Like these R90s, they claimed to be made to "exact factory specs". I was happy with them and they held up well but I am a bit **** and very careful about parallel parking, etc., so they had an easy life really.

In fact, now that I think of it, I have a picture:

Nice!

Those wheels look real nice on you VW! I'll give the Ebay bid a try and if it doesn't work out I may give the replicas a try. Thanks!

Anyone know how much the R90's weigh? Are they pretty heavy?

New OEM Wheels for my 05 PW JCW!

Love the R90's, and the Pirelli run-flats came with them too. Much better ride than the 18's I had and looks better too with 17's IMHO. I like the stock look

Enjoy & HAGWE,
Charles
