Any regrets after ordering your new MINI?

I'm, gulp, about ready to order my first MINI. When you look back, are there things you would have done differently, items you really regret not including? Or items you ordered and realized weren't worth it? Newbie eagerly awaiting the wisdom of his forebearers. Thanx.

Don't worry, you'll be able to address any regrets when you order your next Mini!

I'm just kinding. Kind of. Okay, maybe not.

The one thing I learned - it'll be a LONG time before I buy a new car that's NOT a MINI. Love them too much.

After reading one of the other threads, I regret not getting more cool free stuff from the Mini dealer!!

But really...No, there's nothing I regret. Except selling my '04 Mini CS. Evidently the husband thought two identical Minis for one person was a little overboard. I have NO idea what he meant by that. I mean, really! One was a TURBO. Totally different cars.

I thought at first I'd regret something too...but once you get it, nothing else matters! You fall in love, and you get used to all of it!

Congrats!

My only regret is that I have had to wait 10 weeks to get the MINI.

I agree...rear fogs (and front for that matter) is something to consider. Some regret not getting a MFSW, it does simplify the radio controls on an R56.

I haven't even got mine yet and based on what I've read I wish I had ordered the NAV. And maybe I should NOT have ordered chrome line interior.

I'm glad I ordered Anthracite headliner: I almost didn't but based on feedback I have read it sounds like I made the right choice.

But who knows? Maybe I'll think it's perfect when it comes. IF it ever gets here Impatient

Good luck, and tell us what you get!

Tony

Ditto on the anthracite headliner.... basically, any option that would too expensive or time consuming (anything electronic, headliner, etc) you might as well order straight from the factory. Most of the accessories though, such as the aero kit, you could do it yourself.

Unlike most I had about 3 months between my decision to buy and when I could order and spent most of this time figuring out options. I ordered Nilla exactly as I wanted her.

Hey Mark,

Congrats on getting the new car. No way to go too far wrong!

What about posting your build and what you plan on doing with the car.

LSD and sport suspension are great values if you plan on driving your MINI in anger.

MFSW gives you cruise control, which is important to me.

Rear fogs and anthracite headliner are nice.

Mine's a stripper, just like I wanted it....except maybe now I would get black

Good luck.

Joe

I love the rear fog on my clubbie. I just wish it was stick. I didn't know how to drive manual when I ordered my car but now that I do it drives me nuts. Paddles don't begin to make up for a clutch and LSD.

I ordered my MINI correctly, but I regret ordering the following on my previous few cars:

- Auto dimming mirrors
- Auto sensing wipers
- Auto air condition

All back to manual on the Mini now Mentality is not so different than manual shift vs auto tranny.

The only thing I wish I had ordered that I did not is the limited slip differential.

Yep, clear turn signals...

Was dead set on getting them, the MA talked me out of it since I was getting yellow and on the way home realized I wanted them. This was late saturday afternoon. Called 9:00am monday morning, but it was too late to change the order. It flipped into production.

But.... My dealer is correcting it and getting me the clears (the hardest part is the orange in the xenon lights). I am very appreciative of their efforts and when I finally do pick up the car will give a report...

I do find it funny though, when I ordered one of my porsches, even though initially the dealer said I couldn't I pretty much was able to change things even while it was traveling down the assembly line as long as it was within a day or so of hitting that "station" all the was required was calling germany. I'm not sure if it had to do with the options being "porsche exclusive" options or not.

Everybody keeps saying "rear fogs" -- maybe I'm not realizing what I'm missing out on with these...what's the appeal? I don't get it.

One thing that I'm not even sure I could have ordered or done anything about: the daytime running lights -- they're so BRIGHT, with no way to dim them. In my '04, it was great -- not too bright, but still visible. In my '07, they're just as bright as the regular lights...I seem very rude when I have to pull up somewhere and it looks like I WON"T dim my lights.

I am SOOOO glad I got the cold weather package! Especially on cold mornings. Toasty tushies!

I've had my mini almost a month now and the one thing I wish I had gotten and didn't was the convenience package. What was I thinking?

It looks better with them than without. They are another set of lights and brake lights on the back for more visibility. And without them there is an empty spot on the row of toggle switches inside. For only $100.
