Many thanks - and your photos will be very well received, indeed!

And for some background on tugboats: http://www.tugboatenthusiastsociety....hive/NE/ri.htm including yours.

Well, after you posted your photos, I did a Google on your ship's name...and voila! There's plenty more where that came from - including some other interesting hits, news articles, etc.

What can I say - I'm smitten. I may have to head up to one of those tugboat fests and see if they ever give us landlubbers a chance to take to the sea.

By the way, on the obsessive tracking of MINIs... I was just reminded by a fellow MINIac, that it is apparently possible to use the Empire State building's cameras to sight on the river...this came up because I told my pals about your fantastic photos. I think you have a second career here, tugboatboy.

Made it though the VDC!!!!!!!!!!!

My MA just emailed me and said my MINI made it through within the last hour and is now waiting to get on a truck to WNY. It was unloaded off the Fedora on the 16th. I'm a little surprised it took so long....

Congratulations! I hope this means that mine won't be far behind.

Great. I hope this means things are moving along. Mine was on The Fedora, unloaded the 16th, but has gone "dormant" since. Haven't heard a thing. I was really hoping it would get to my dealer in the DC area early this week so I could get it this weekend.

I emailed my MA to ask if my MINI was through the VDC yet and he responded. He said something about signing in and that the status had just changed and that it's waiting at the "truck pad" for a ride. I was surprised my MA had that info.

Great news! No news here. I'll see if I can control myself for a day or two before I send out an email flare.

Hi gang,

I know by the ship log that my car was "discharged" last Wednesday. However, the OL Track your MINI status still shows enroute. Does yours show the same?

Hadn't even thought of checking the OL at this point.

Just broke down and emailed my MA to find out what the trajectory was. Since I'm quite near, relatively speaking, the VDC it seems my Clubman should be ready soon - once the clear coating is installed, that is.

Tick, tock....

Otra,

Do me a favor. Check your OL status. If it still shows yours as enroute also I'll feel better.

Yes, it says "en route to the Vehicle Distribution Center..." but that is definitely old news because that's where it goes after it's disembarked from the ship.

Not to worry - from here on out it's your dealership that will be in the know - I know it's especially hard for you because your currently MINI-less but soon you'll be behind your MINI's wheel!

My MCSC was also on the Fedora and OL still says "en route..."

It is also listed on my dealer's inventory, which is sort of disconcerting, but my MA says it is standard procedure and that it will be removed from the inventory once they receive the car (or my money, ha,ha).

I'm just trying to keep cool and hoping for a call to come and pick it up anyday............................................ .........................

Just received an email saying I'd be taking delivery next week!! Should find out this Thursday the exact day. Though I put in a request for Monday, I'd be very surprised if that worked out. Anyhow - hang in there mates, you'll be finding out very soon, I'm sure.

I was told today that I should get mine next week, as well. My MA expects to receive the car this Saturday, and told me that I could probably pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I just spoke to my MA and he said that my MINI has been assigned a truck and it's estimated delivery date to the dealer is the 26th, but they always get it sooner, and that I'll probably be able to take delivery Friday or Saturday! Mine still shows ENROUTE on MINI Usa too.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...03&postcount=6 Just hate using the term "clear bra" for several reasons - one is that it's not a bra, it's got much more coverage than that and, two is that I find that term rather sexist. I'm getting a kind of invisible "shield" installed.
Over on this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...56#post2069256 called Show Us Pictures of Your R55 Clubman... there's been some discussion about this product and similar ones.

My dealer at MINI of Fairfield County in CT is going to do it for my Clubman for $515 and that will include the hood/bonnet, lights surface, front bumper, rear bumper, mirrors, door handles cup, and door lateral closing.

Didn't do it with my last two MINIs and regret it due to the inevitable stone chips - and I do plan on holding on to this Clubman for quite a while.
Perhaps this is why even though I'm a heckuvalot closer to the VDC, you'll be taking delivery of yours sooner than I will? Good for you!

Hmmm,
My dealer hasn't tried to sell me on any of that, so I'm not really familiar with this product. If it's something you regret not doing for your previous MINI's then I'm going to have to consider this.

Well, read up on it first. MINIs tend to have an attraction for stone chips or so it seems to many of us. It's something about the way the front is curved, I think - but don't take my word for it. I am just tired of the little divots... Touch up paint is only so good. Somehow on my current MC I have a terrible, deep, jagged scratch on the hood - not long but it's there alright... The dealer will repaint the "bonnet" before they resell the car.

I figure this time - for me - since I hope to hang on to this MINI for a long time that it will be worth the $$ and they do cover quite a bit for that price. Lots of folks do go for it, while lots do not. You certainly don't have to make your mind up now. For me it was a decision that I made so I figured sooner was better than later. (My MA has never tried to sell me anything - this, an extended warranty, nothin' - thankfully!)

Otra,
Have you ever laid eyes on a MINI with this product installed. How does it hold up over the years. Can you tell it's there? Can other people tell it's there? Is it goo going on?

Click on those two hyperlinks and read what's there, then check http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-e...rotection.htmland here's another thread from another board (with some bits of humor attempted here and there) http://nemini.org/index.php?topic=126.0 where you will see comments on it showing or not and people with various colors commenting. I believe ClubmanS has one and he's always very ready to respond to questions so why not ask some questions on that thread I posted at the outset of my recent explanation. I've seen it on a number of cars - some colors you couldn't even see it unless you stood at a certain angle. Maybe your MA can show you some on their lot? Several MAs I know have them on theirs and have shown me...In that thread from NEMINI.org, the poster pbraun is a real old MINI hand as well as an MA.

Hope this helps!

Oh, no it is not goo - here's a link from http://www.armourglove.com/About/index.html which is one brand...others are similar, I'm sure.

Hey Otra,
Thanks for you info. I emailed my MA and he said that he personally dosn't like the product, bugs get stuck in it and it's harder to repair than touching up the paint. He said there's a Clubman on the lot with it applied and that I can stop by and take a look tomorrow, which I will. I'll let ya know what I think.
