You should give them a call and talk to a person...maybe our MINI's are both sitting their waiting for the ship! (I don't know if it makes it better or worse thinking it's at the factory or in the salty air!)

I'm in the same boat. If this works like some of the folks that are on the Patriot, we should start to see our bookings on Wednesday...maybe tomorrow if we're extraordinarily lucky!

 

 

Automated ASK-MINI says it's at the port and awaiting a shipping vessel. By the way, they told me my vehicle did complete on 4/29 as scheduled.

SeaPort VT to Handle MINI

SeaPort Vehicle Transports announced today that they are going to be a new import hub for BMW products, specifically MINI Coopers. With the price of oil rising, the demand for MINIs is rising. Access to a new facility will support the increased imports of these high mileage vehicles.

SeaPort PR Manager, Tim Molsen said "The central location of Houston will assist MINI in reducing costs because distances to the central US will be minimized and efficient shipping lines will control costs." Mr. Molsen continued saying, "We are excited about this deal, but there is a bit of confusion over the rapid timeline that BMW wants to operate under, with the first ship arriving here on May 19th". SeaPort states they will be doing everything possible to please their new customer.

When MINI USA was contacted concerning this, they seemed to be in a state of confusion as well. "We've not heard any details of the deal." said a legal representative who went on to refer us to BMW Corporate headquarters in Germany.

Seaport believes that this new work will create between 175 and 200 jobs at their Houston wharf 31 operations site. Certainly good news in these uncertain economic times.

Owners Lounge still shows me waiting on the dock. But I have to believe that Bimini is on the Carribean Highway. I mean there haven't been any reports of unusual mini behavior in Southampton for the last 36 hours.

Yesterday I had to perform penance for my recent irresponsiblities and go do charity work (helped out at our local Habitat fundraiser), so I didn't get a chance to harass my MA. I'll call him later today to see if he can find out anything.

Where did you get information that you're on the Mignon? I hope mine is also, since we seem to have the same schedule and destination.

I called ASK-MINI and spoke with Micah, he said normally it take a week to week and a half to get on a ship...I didn't even bother with trying to ask about all our buddies who left us partying on the port. Maybe we're not rowdy enough to get kicked off the island and onto a ship!
I hope I'm proven wrong here!

 

so if the Patriot docks on Monday the 12th in NY ... and my dealer is in NY ... how long do you reckon from docking to delivery? another week?

 

My destination is NYC. As of this morning, the automated ASKMINI is still telling me the same message since morning of May 2nd - “completed and waiting to be released to the carrier”. When I spoke to a live ASKMINI person yesterday afternoon, he told me that my car was not at the port yet.

 

Sorry to hear that Zugar, I would think it should have been at the port by now. Maybe transportation is backed up.

 

Guess what? Don't feel sorry for me after all! I checked the WW Cargo Tracking just for the heck of it - I'm booked!!! Yaaayy!! Where are my shipmates? It's strange that ASKMINI is behind Cargo Tracking in updating my record. I thought it's usually the other way around. But I can't complain now

I "think" that I may possibly be seeing my MINI around my BIRTHDAY (05/28)
Since the PATRIOT hits NY on the 12th.
As far as I know, I did not select options that get installed at the VDC.
So hopefully they'll give it the 'once over' and send it up to me...(please)

 

Oh - forgot to mention - my car will be on the Mignon, set to sail out of Southampton on May 7th. Arrival in NYC is on May 16th.

mysticturner/MINI TREKKIE, did you check the WW site for a booking lately for the heck of it? Maybe you're coming in through Georgia on the MIGNON, though I'd prefer that you're on the Carribean Highway for your sakes!
