Now comes the hard part -- waiting!

The easy part was deciding -- colours, options, that kind of thing.

Now comes the hard part -- waiting for my MCS to arrive! I'm currently "Scheduled for Production," but don't know my start date.

As my screen name suggests, I'm a ham radio operator (among other vices). I found NAM looking for tips on fitting radio equipment into my new MCS.

For other ham cognoscenti, I'm still deciding which radio to move from my current vehicle (a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee), the Icom 2720 (2m/440), or the IC-7000 (HF, 6m, 2m, 440). When you start thinking about antennas, the 2720 is a LOT easier! On the Jeep, I got out a metal punch and hard-mounted NMO connectors. Not sure I want to do that with my new baby! Thru-glass is too much of a performance compromise, so I'm exploring other options. The rear spoiler and its mount looks interesting. Locating the control head(s) in the interior is also going to be fun. I've spent time sitting in other MCSs at the local dealership, placing the control heads and taking pictures.

Looking forward to motoring -- I'm open to suggestions.

Good luck, you will need it.

At least you've ordered. I haven't gotten to that step yet.

If you're scheduled for production, then that usually means your car is being built as we speak. Look for it to be done by the weekend.

I'd reccomend the 7000

Sure it will take a lot more effort to get it set up the way you want it.... but that's half of the fun <g>. Besides , wouldn't you like to give your Mini the chance to "call home" to Oxford if it gets lonely <g>.

Also, good luck with the wait. I ordered mine yesterday myself and am trying to figure out how I'm going to survive the next month or so of anticipation <g>.
