The great debate

Hello all!

I found this forum thru a friend who has a nice MCS JCW.

Currently I own a 1992 325i/4 and a 2004 WRX STi. The STi is getting long in the tooth and I need to come back to my BMW roots. With that, I am at a crossroads. I have two solid options that I am considering:

1. buy a new M3 for myself.

or

2. buy an '08 MCS for my wife and an '08 335i for myself.

Either way, I am looking at ~$100 Canadian for either option.

The MCS I would be looking at would be one from a relative who works for BMW Canada and gets spectacular lease rates for 4 months at a time (oh to drive a new car every 4 months..) So the car would be full warranty and barely broken in.

Either way, whether I choose option 1 or 2, I'll be searching the boards for interesting ideas for the car.

Thanks.

If you buy an MCS and anything else, you'll end up driving the MCS and your wife will be stuck with a whatever. Just buy two.

Haha...that's a good answer. I did think of that, but I have my heart set on a BMW. Although I would love to auto-x a MCS!

Get the MCS and save the money. You'll realize there is no need to stretch all the way to a 335i.

^^ True, but I am looking for a sedan too. Granted the Clubman S is coming (!), but I like the feel and the look of a sedan.

Ditto what jsharra said ... option 3: his & hers Mini's!!

I dunno though ... I've heard incredible things about the 335i, although I haven't driven one yet myself. But I do know that I can't imagine anything more fun to drive than a Mini.

I went with a 2008 Corvette convertible and a 2008 Mini S. I picked up the Corvette last week, but my wife and daughter are really waiting for the Mini which is due next week. Based on what I am hearing, we will be fighting for the Mini and the loser will have to drive the Vette.

+1. Especially if you're going for the sedan.

eek. what a tough decision!!! at first glance i'd go w/ option #2..but i don't knoowww...my fiance had an m3, a bimmerfreak. lol. he initially discouraged me from the mini and pushed me to go for a 325xi instead..but once he test drove the mini he was hooked. we fight over who is going to drive everytime we go somewhere! lol.
