Turned DSC off... Whoa!

I know there are probably a ton of these posts, but I just had to add...

I picked up my 05 MCS over a week ago and have enjoyed it immensely, but not gotten much seat time to "play."

I took the long way home from work tonight and flipped DSC off. I am astounded at the difference. Understeer practically vanished and the car feels very neutral now.

The route home has some mile long straights, a couple sweepers and four hairpins. Suffice to say, I was grinning ear-to-ear by the time I pulled in.

As I am in SoCal, I'll probably be leaving the DSC off whenever it is not raining. Now to get some better tires!

So during normal driving you were seeing the DSC light flash on? If not, DSC was not engaging.
DSC on/off isn't going to affect your understeer.
I'm voting 'placebo effect'.

Glad you enjoyed the drive though!

I agree DSC off is a LOT more fun. I never had the light flash at me, but the car seems to fight me a lot more with DSC on. DSC seems to undermine my shifting. I find it easier to do quick accelerations with DSC off.

Doesn't turning off the DSC turn off something like the ASTC? Could be wrong, probably am, but I remember reading that somewhere.

Has anyone noticed the darn DSC will turn its self back on after some "hot" driving. after one good burn through to third gear it fell on its face and I noticed the dsc engaged itself. Oh well, probably a good thing, I tend to waste tires.

Not here. DSC off on the track, and while I'm no speed demon, was definitely doing some slipping and sliding. DSC never came on by itself.

Matt is right guys. If the light isn't blinking then DSC isn't doing anything. So turning it off will only have one effect; it won't come on...

The DSC is nice for a warm up lap or two at the track and then turn it OFF. You won't have to deal with the car trying to " save " you when it really isn't necessary. For bad weather , nasty roads or general safety it is a nice feature but when you want to actually drive the car to its potential it tends to get in the way.
