R56 Production Week 3 Support Group

Hi Guys,

Well....after 2 years of waiting, I finally have my MINI on order....week 3 production. My wife surprised me by stopping in the local MINI dealer and started working the deal. She said, "just order it" and then whipped out the check book.

Got a 2008 MCS LiB/LiB with:

Cold Weather Package
Premium Package
Xenon's
LSD
Manual Trans
Rear Fog's
Leatherette
Leather MFSW
SIRIUS
Pacific Blue Color Line

Can't wait until she gets here...but it's been 2 years, I guess I can wait a little more.

Tom

Is your vehicle scheduled for week 3? If so, it'll be a week 4 vehicle as it takes about 7 business days for the vehicle to complete. My vehicle is scheduled to complete on 1/9, but it started on 12/21.

Ok, my MCS in red is being "birthed" on Jan 14th making it a week 3 completion.

Now I'm anxious to find out what ship it will be on - the TAGUS on the 17th or the ISOLDE on the 21st. Hopefully not later then that...

I have NO wisdom - wishful thinking on my part.

However I do have an idea of factory to shipping lead times - just not for cars and not for the south of England.

Like I said, I have no knowledge....

I should mention that this whole process has been amazingly fast - maybe this is just good timing but we ordered the car on Saturday, Jan 5th and it's going to be done on the 14th - pretty incredible.

I remember when I ordered my 2002 Porsche C4s not only was it a month before they would even give me a production "estimate" the whole process took almost 7 months! Worse 7 months of my life - it was my first Porsche and something I had wanted all my life which just made it worse.

............
I also ordered on the 5th, but MA told me "week 3" allocation. I do not know if this means it will start on week 3 and actually be a week 4? It has been 6 days already and the OL is still saying "on order". How do you find out the "birthdate"?

It means you'll start production in week 3 and be done in week 4 most likely, possibly week 3 itself depending on how early you start. Once you actually enter the body shop, it's one day there, one day in the paint shop and then final assembly which is another day or two. So if you start on the Sunday of week 3, you'd be done Wednesday and possibly ship out that week itself.

Call ASK-MINI and speak to a customer relations rep to find out when it is scheduled for and when it'll be done.

Mine was "on order" even when it was already in production, I found out it was on production untill I called 1-866-ASK-MINI 2 days ago, then the system told me it was in production with finishing date 01/14, today i called but talked to a representative and she told me it was in the body shop today and it will have to go 5 more steps in the process and that it would actually be ready on the 14th, she also told me that it wudl take 2.5 weeks to travel up to the west coast so, you should call them.

Thanks. So is the birthday the start day or finish day?

EDIT: called ASK MINI and the automated response was "scheduled for production, but no date"

Today I Called ask-mini and my mini is on the paint shop and will be ready tomorrow

then I went to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site to check if they had any ships schedules and this is what i found

Origin Port Departure Destination port Arrival Vessel Voyage Transit (Days)

SOUTHAMPTON 17/01/2008 PORT HUENEME, CA 11/02/2008 TAGUS EC801-TGU 25
SOUTHAMPTON 21/01/2008 PORT HUENEME, CA 10/02/2008 ISOLDE ED803-ISO 20
SOUTHAMPTON 29/01/2008 PORT HUENEME, CA 17/02/2008 AIDA ED804-ADA 19

So, looks like the ISOLDE could be the one, i think if it is finished tomorrow it will be hard to be on time to get into the TAGUS well anyway according to them ISOLDE will be here sooner than TAGUS hahaha hoppefully!

I called this morning and got the same response "in the paint shop" but the completion date was Jan 14th. Wait a minute - isn't that today... as I check my calendar....

Hummmm.... this was at about 10am PCT and it was already 6pm in the UK...

Guess I'll get an update tomorrow - maybe talk to CS if the computer says the same thing.
