New MINI Owner - 2004 Cooper
New MINI Owner - 2004 Cooper
Well I did it! After 5 years of watching them, and lusting after them, I went a bought one. I could not afford a New 2007 Mini, plus I wanted Gold/Black with Gold/Black interior which they do not make anymore. I found a 2004 Mini Cooper, with 37K with all the options I wanted for $16,000! I had to drive 5 hours with my wife to get it, and 5 hours back, but "Nugget" is finally home.
I am discovering many interesting tidbits on this site, Mini2, and Miniusa. I don't have an opinion of which one is best yet, so I am in all three.
I freaked out yesterday when I found out that the dealer I bought the car from had changed the oil and used conventional oil. But, I replaced the oil last night, (could not find the filter), but now that I know where the filter is I will replace that tonight. I let the conventional oil drip out to the end, and I understand I should be OK now.
The biggest scare I have right now is the 6 speed CVT. I have a bad hip, and cannot use a manual transmission anymore, so I thought I was getting a good thing with a CVT. I'm not so sure anymore. But it runs great, and moves in and out of Sport Drive just fine. I guess I'll find out more after my Dealer service next week.
Anyway, I am glad to be here! I already started accessorizing with a cup holder, glove box organizer, center console organizer and rear seat pulls. I'm looking at Arm rests and like the one on ebay from Canada.
Any e-mails are appreciated!

Welcome to NAM! Hope you'll enjoy it here as you go thru your adventures with your MINI. I have a used '03 CVT and it has about 34k. I've tracked it and have taken it on long trips as well as to the Dragon. So far, it has not presented any problem, but I am not driving it as much now as I used to, either. I am averaging around 6k a year, and mostly drive it to shows now.
I have an elbow pad if you are seeking one.
