Does it say BMW on the block? I wonder if they are backfilling capacity with Japanese engines? Or maybe it was a typo on the window sticker?

No one has ever supplied an answer, but there are R56 engines whose country of origin are Japan.

If it were a diesel, it wouldn't have been imported legally into this country.
