Hey All! 1st Post!

I'm a little 'late' with my first post here...bought my 2006 MC back in March 07. At the time I wasn't sure if I wanted to "risk" it and get a BRAND new model, since I had heard a LOT of people worried about MINI messing something up!

So instead I bought a new 2006 Chili Red MC with white roof, Package 1 and 3, black panther leather, Auto wipers/headlights; I added some bonnet stripes to her and took her home!

I've been loving it ever since!

Then I did a "bad" thing...I started playing around last week with the idea of getting an 07 or 08...my thoughts were this,

"I don't really want the leather seats (take the dog out motoring a lot and it's a worry she'll punch a hole with a toenail), and there were a few other 'niceties' I could live without...and the 40 mpg would be AMAZING since i have to drive (motor, forgive me ) 70 miles roundtrip each day to work...so I wonder if I could order a '08 MC without paying more than I already am per month...hmmm"

Anyway, here is my first question to all of you "experts" out there...Should I try to sell/trade in my '06 MC for an ordered '08 MC...are the new perks of an amazing interior, 6 SPEED! ( ) better engine, better mpg, etc, etc worth it? OR are all of these perks not as great as all of the car and owner reviews lead you to believe?

Let me know if you regret your 'upgrade' in the slightest bit

O, and don't get me wrong...I want a good mpg mini...but the MOST important item is how well she'll PREFORM!

Thanks for your time and I look forward to your opinions!

Take it from someone that has both... ignore ^ that guy.

Seriously... you don't NEED a MCS if you're using the MINI as your daily commuter. The Cooper fills that need just fine. But if you also rely in it for the weekend fun and don't mind sacrificing about 8 mpg, then you'll love the MCS.

As far as '08 vs. '06... I would stick with the '06 for a while. Wait and see if there are any serious bugs with the R56. Third or fourth model year with the new design should be a much better risk.

Welcome and your use of "Upgrade" might be argued, it is a relative term and depends on what you want.....

I went through the same thought process. I bought an '06 MC and just loved it, but kept thinking that an S would be still more of a good thing...and I was right! I traded for an '07 S after a year with the Cooper, and have no regrets at all. If you love your MC, then you'll flip over an MCS!

Hmm...well, the more I look at it, I'm sure I would LOVE the MCS...but for now, I think the MC is the best, with the MPG. Maybe if I get a job closer to home in the future, I'll be able to hop into a MCS!!

This forum is AMAZING!! The responce and number of MINI Fanatics is very reassuring, since I was worried I was becoming too 'obsessed'! Then again, I've been dreaming of owning a MINI since 2002!

Here's a 'newbie' question...how do I get the little 'virtual' badges I've seen on other's signature pictures...for example, the Chili Red Owners Club, or something like that?
