All Aboard the Asian Emperor-to Depart Southampton 10/8/07 in Port Hueneme 10/28
Hello All
Hey Everyone, I just found out that my MCS is also on the Asian Emperor
At least that's what the tracking said when I entered my Vin# on the WW site. So, is this supposed to arrive in Port Hueneme on 10/28? Then I'm guessing about a week to get to the dealer, I got my at Long Beach Mini In So cal. Now I'm starting to get excited.
I also order the JCW engine works package last week, hopefully that will come in about the same time.

I agree. Tharkun is one of the most helpful members in here answering many questions.

post some info and tips on catching her on the canal cams once she is in that area.
As for time thru the VDC that depends on how busy they are and if you have any dealer items to be installed. But from past delivery times in your area, ya a week is not unusal.
Thanks for all the kind words, they are very much appreciated.
After spending so much time learning about the tracking, ships, ports, and the canal, it seemed like a waste not to put the info to some type of use.
Since I'm retired and have a few free hours during the day, decided to see if the info would save some new owners a bit of frustration, the wait time is enough to deal with.

OK, Am I the only one who feels obsessed at the arrival of my Mini?
I have never felt this way about anything. Even when I graduated Basic Training in 1989 have I not felt this level of anticipation. I think about my Mini and how much fun it will be to drive her on my 80mi each way commute to work. I did not have this feeling about the new 08 Suburban I bought my wife. I like it, don't get me wrong. The sub just does not inspire the emotion as waiting for my Mini has. Maybe I'm getting old (37 on the 31st), but the thought of being behind the wheel of my Mini brings a smile to my face.
Enjoy your stay in Canada, Just wait for the Panama canal!!!

CANAL TREK
If there is interest, I will post some info and links of how to track your ship on her trek thru the canal.
With some info you will be able to estimate when she will arrive at each of the thress locks and catch pics
of her using the canal web cams. Passage time for the entire passage can vary for 7 -10 hours depending on canal traffic at the time.

CANAL TRACKING
Asian Emperor is scheduled to arrive in port on 10/21 and depart 10/22. Usually WW ships make the port stop in one day, so with the 2 day stop, it makes estimating the
canal passage "slot" rather difficult. Once she is in port I'll have a better idea as when she will make the canal trek.
The link below is for the AIS maps of the canal area.
AIS PANAMA
The next port for Asian Emperor is the Manzanillo International Terminal (MIT) located in Colon Panama. Usually WW ships are at the dock from a few hours to as long as
10-12, there is no way of knowing the exact time she will leave the port. The MIT site has info and under the "Media" tab there is a photo gallery of MIT.
MIT

Once leaving the port she will trek back out past the breakwaters to the Cristobal Anchorage area and anchor there for the night. Usually the WW
ships have an early morning passage slot for the locks, so she should be heading in for the Gatun Lock between 4 - 7 am on 10/22. (PST) Best guess at this time.
So if you want to see her make the canal trek and catch some cam pics in the locks, it takes a bit of time to keep checking the maps and stay updated to her movments.
All of the times, dates and such are just my "best" guess from watching previous WW ships, so take that into account.
As for the canal web cams, both of the lock cams change directions during the day, showing either the north or south bound traffic. When the Miraflores cam is showing the
Pedro Miguel lock it can me rather difficult to determine if your ship is in that lock. The link for the canal page is below, under the "MultiMedia" tab are the cams and also
a "How It Works" info on the canal system.
