This morning my MA called and told me that Tori made it through the port yesterday and is at the VDC!! She's expected to arrive at my dealer on Monday, and I made the appointment to take ownership next Friday. I can't believe how excited I am... and I need to somehow contain the excitement for another week. At least I'll know where she is so I'm not checking online every day for updates. My husband keeps asking if there is a support group for spouses of MINI owners

 

That is indeed very exciting!

The best way for your husband to deal with everything your MINI ownership entails... is to get his own MINI!

But why so long at your dealer? Monday to Friday seems like a long time after the wait you've endured. I'd be pushing to pick up by Wednesday at the absolute latest. (Picked mine up the same day it arrived ). Are they far and you just can't make it until Friday?

 

Our MINI dealer is an hour away from home. In addition, my husband and I own a small business, so unfortunetely our schedule doesn't allow for a pickup on Wed or Thurs... I'm having the dealer do some aftermarket instalations, so they want the car for at least a few days. (They're installing driving lamps, a clear "bra" on the front, and the portable navigation system.) Since my options for pickup were Tues, Fri, or Sat, the dealer said that Fri was the earliest they could have it done.

To me it didn't seem unreasonable, especially since I ordered Tori on 8/11 and I'll take delivery on 9/14. Although I'm anxious, it's pretty impressive to order a car, have them build to specs, ship it across an ocean, and have it to me in just over a month.

 

Glad your MINI has made it safe and sound to US soil....We all know how excited you must be anticipating the BIG day - Wooott...Can't wait to hear all the fantastic details...
