Hiya
So what did i do this long weekend? Spent around 12 hours reading up on these forums.
I got in touch with an MA at Northwest Mini and hopefully will be taking a test drive this coming Saturday. I am pretty much gonna get on the waiting list and drive my friends and co-workers insane starting next week but i wanna get a test drive out of the way (i am 6'3" and 250 pounds).
I went to miniusa.com and configured an MCSa that came out to 27grand
. Is anyone here as heavy and tall as i am? If so, how do you like your mini

Woot! Dark silver body with black roof/mirrors is what i'll be going for. I've been walking around with a goofy smile ever since i heard back from the MA. I wonder how it will be once i get the little one o.O

Welcome to NAM.
Some Washington residents have reported a fairly long wait from the Tacoma dealer recently, because of a long waiting list. If you feel the wait might be too long, you might call Rasmussen in Portland and see how long their list are.
Some new owners have even bought their cars from dealerships in northern California, flown down to pick up the car and drove home.

- my friends have already started the "omg get a stick dude" conversations but eh, i like having an auto in Seattle's stop and go traffic
Besides, the paddles intrigue me :O.
Welcome! Newbie myself (Astro Black MCSa born 8/25/07)! I'm 6'4 225. I fit great and am much more comfortable than any car I've had yet (sport seats rock.) Even in a good position my 5'1" wife or kids fit behind me. The hardest thing was waiting for this baby to arrive. Good luck!
Yes i phat..i mean phit in just phine :D. I didn't do much of a test drive (i fink) - it was a totally new experience for me coming from an old Honda. Or it might have been the relativity theory - spend 1hr with a hot mini and it feels like a minute.
Anyway, i got on the wait list
and now i gotta count zee number of days :(. A couple things that really stood out were:
1. The super pawsome braking - i was breaking like a wetoddid drunk bear as i wasn't used to the super sensitive braking and the responsiveness
2. Had to really press the gas pedal to accelerate - the very gentle touch i am used to on my Honda did pretty much close to nothing.
Visibility was great - both front and back :O - no parking distance control for me. The ride felt a little rough at times with the run-flats (17" on the test drive car). To tell the truth i was mostly out of place going into the cooper S after driving an ancient relic
Wait wait wait wait :O
EDIT: I can speal brake and being among all those mini coopers man - that felt pawsome.

If this guy....

...fits into his MINI Cooper, you can sure fit into it.
That's Gilbert Brown of the Green Bay Packers. He's 6 foot 2 inches and 340 lbs.
Welcome to the board, phatty. Hope you stick around a while !

I'm sure you'll phit just phine! I really like the idea of buying in Northern CA and driving home. That has to be one of the phinest routes in the whole world!
I haven't had any really phresh salmon since I left the Northwest 17 years ago. Best of luck to ya and enjoy the experience!
God save the person who looks at the above guy's cooper in a wrong way.
Congrats, phatty! I also live in the Puget Sound area and an auto transmission is awesome up here. Not only are the paddles nifty, but putting the MINI into Sport Mode and using the "stick" is also superb. The HILLS around here are much more palatable with an auto.
Just a maybe for ya. I didn't want the long Northwest MINI wait, so I bought out of state (nabbed an Oxygen Blue coming over the pond to MINI of Dallas) and drove back up here (I have family in Texas).
I do know Rasmussen of Portland had a shorter wait last summer. Also, I think the advice to order from Northern California and taking a majestic road trip back home is a fine suggestion.
Happy Trails!!!!

Oh yeah the model i was in had a sunroof and i still wasn't hitting the ceiling with me furry head. The MA suggested i get into an S without the sunroof and i was pleasantly surprised at the head room.
I absolutely love a sunroof when im in the navigator's seat but as a driver (and no one's sitting in my mini's driver seat when i get one but me
), i don't care much for one.
The MA told me the wait will be between 4 and 7 months and that will depend and i'll end up getting a 2008 :O.
Ooh the little nudge on the indicator for merging/quicker turns and harder nudge for turn signals == pawsomely cool.
I felt like an idiot for the braking but :O - i plan to drive to CA for a roadtrip once i get her (him?) HER!!
