Exclamation Mini Cooper Car Alarm

'Ello

So I Have a 2011 with the Mini Cooper factory Security System, but it Seems that if I lock "ARM" the alarm with the Sunroof open or vented... it seems to go off all on its own after a few Minutes just RANDOMLY go off... kind of embarrassing and LOUD...

Only happens when i have the Sunroof open or Vented.... is there something i am missing? Glass Break Sensor ? something?

Matthew

There is a motion sensor in the car so that if you reach in an armed car with the windows down it will alarm. There have been posts here reporting items as small as a bee buzzing in the car could set the alarm off. The screen for the sunroof could flutter and set it off, anything really could.

Well that would make sense to me, but this is happening in the winter, he had a few day of 40+ weather and left my sunroom vented open and it was going off by itself... No insects flying around now in wisconsin!

I have a 2013 Roadster with the alarm and I leave the top down all the time and have never had an issue with false alarms. My first thought about your issue would have been the motion sensor too but that seems unlikely if the sunroof is only vented. Not sure if the alarm has any sensors for noise or pressure changes. Was it very windy when the false alarm happened? That's the only other thing I can think of.

Well I tested the car locked with the sunroof open while I went into get Starbucks coffee ... The alarm DID go off all on it's own while I had the sunroof vented, so I am confused and I am about ready to call Mini Cooper and find out what's the problem

Mine does the same thing - the wind sets it off if I leave the roofed cracked open. Click the lock button twice and it disables the motion sensor. . .
