So soon...

Greetings all...

The lease on my '05 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT is running out in October... I'm going to be ordering a MCS in the next week or two.

Been looking at them for a while... was very excited to find the car spacious and comfortable for my 6'4" frame.

I've narrowed it down to MCS, 6 speed, LSD, HiFi, Nav, Cold Package and Comfort Access...

I'm all over the place on color right now, but I'm leaning towards lightning blue with white, not sure on stripes.

A question, if anyone reading this knows -- what do you have to order to get non-runflat tires?

Thanks!

Brian

Welcome to NAM!! Your selections on your MCS look good. I'm not sure about being able to order non-runflats but check with your MA. I lived with run-flats for 24K and it was a PITA. You might check with Alex at the Tire Rack to see if you could do a switch on non-runflats. Just a thought. Your going to love your MINI!!

Seems like there's a simple option on the miniusa configurator for selecting Performance vice Run-Flats, so it can't be too difficult.

Keep in mind though that if you go with Performance tires you'll have to live without a spare or sacrifice the boot space to haul one around (one of the satisfying advantages of the normally aspirated MINI!).

Unfortunately, the performance tire is still a runflat... The S has no spot for a spare (unless you mount it IN the car... )

Best thing to do is when you get your car, de-mount the Run-flats and sell them here or on evil-BAY or Craigslist...

Get a plug repair kit, slime, and a compressor...
If you do a search, you'll find at least 2 threads recently on this...

HTH, and happy motoring

Yep......run-flats for the S are standard and req'd. No way to order anything else.

I see -- so what exactly is the difference between the performance and non-performance tires? Is one a mud/snow tire and one a summer tire?

Anyone have examples of what tire you get with either? Name/Brand/Speed and Treadware rating, etc?

Thanks for the responses folks!

My understanding that either the 16" or 17" set up on the MCS comes w/ run flats.
The MC on the other hand, not sure. At the time I wanted to dump my run flats, my MA said they only carried run flats. Go figure...

I ended up selling them here, the whole package, and got me a new set up with all season rubber...

Just wanted to post in my thread now that I've ordered... specs are in the sig.

Flipped out at the last minute and went from Lightning Blue to Laser Blue+W...

I thought the Laser was much lighter than it is, and realized it was the color I liked in pictures all along... I was real close to ordering a Lightning Blue w/ Black...

Also threw in Xenon's in a last minute fit of optioning.

Asked my MA if this kind of behavior was typical, he confirmed that it was...
