Production Number Question

Hi all,

I ordered my MINI on Friday, Aug 17 and of course, I'm on tenterhooks. So, I have a production number but not a production week. I'm just wondering if you can tell your production week by looking at the production number . . . The first 2 numbers of my number are 37, and it seems like we're about in week 37. Is this just a coincidence??? Does anyone who ordered this week have a production week yet?

I don't think the first two are the production week. My production number starts with 37 also but my car is scheduled to be completed on 8/24. I think this puts me in week 34.

It took about 3.5 weeks from when I received the production number until the car went into production.

Congratulations, T-POD. What'd you order?

There's a sticky in the First Gear forum that'll give you tips and pointers on tracking your MINI.

Each production number is sort of a time slot allocated to the dealer. Your MA (aka salesman) should be able to tell you what the estimated production week is for that number. Note that it may be a few days before your info shows up in the online MINI Owners Lounge.

Some dealers have more slots than others, and some are real busy, so their next available slot may be weeks out. I got lucky and my PW was only a week out from when I ordered. Another guy in my same PW ordered his car on Saturday and his car went into production on Monday! Others have had to wait 3-4 weeks before their car went into production. Some prospective MINI owners have shopped around for an early PW, even ordering from an out-of-state dealer to get an earlier PW.

Good Luck!

Shoot, I should have shopped around like you said. This is a 12 week process for me.

T-POD, it may take a few days for your information to get everywhere but now that you have a production number your MA may also have the timeline. Another very helpful avenue is 866-ASK-MINI, just go to customer service rather than the automated system. That sticky, I believe called 'Track Your MINI', in the first gear forum is rock solid for this kind of information.

Post your order and pics of the car when you get them. Everyone here swoons over the MINI's

Numbers ...

Ok, thanks for the info. I hesitate to start bugging my MA so soon. I can be kinda OCD and he seems very laid back. I don't want to scare him . . . yet. He was quite confident that I'd have it in 6 - 8 weeks though. As for the MINI he will be MCSa, PW-B, White Indicators, Rear Fog, CW pkg, DSC, Rain Sensor, 16" Bridge Spoke, Sunroof, Cream Color, Piano Black, Carbon Black Lounge Leather, Comfort Access, Hi-Fi, MFSW. Window tint, clearbra and custom stripe (cross-fingers) to follow shortly.

I guess I need to get a camera. My first MINIcessory.
