You mean hubby can come back with dings and scratches?

Is that too much to ask? MINI moms and dads, did you survive the spouse-pilot experience????
No. He doesn't drive Kermit, except to adjust in driveway for bathtime.

Oh my!! I just got that tight panicky feeling in my chest in memory of the first 2 times hubby drove unsupervised. The first was at night on our deer/elk infested road when we were coming back from the dealership. I was right behind him praying the whole way!! The second was my 'take it for a spin' that turned into a trip to the coast. I was so busy I didn't think I could go with him - but might as well have for all the work I got done when he was gone .

It's hard - but it's that next step in trust in the partnerships we've taken on... Or in my case probably a bribe to save another 30k purchase

Course nobody's driving her now (sorry couldn't help myself)

That came out wrong. Hubby heals with Neosporin and Band aids!
(Seriously, I do adore my wonderful guy-had a crush on him when I was 15, started dating him 4 1/2 years later [older, sadder, wiser like all 19 year olds!!] and eventually we got married!)

I'm an old hat now at surviving days without my baby. My wife drives Frodo harder than I do, but it may be because she doesn't get the experience but once a week.

I keep repeating... I trust my wife. I trust my wife. I trust my wife.

Minicounter - whine away. You deserve to.

Now THIS is why I married him. . . hubby usually gets home around 6 from his school. Today at 3:30 he came by my classroom so I could see for myself that Scoop was fine. There were small metallic bits in the filter from the oil change, and I got a full report!
He said he's more nervous driving my car than his parents'! That's perfectly acceptable to me!

Well - I just got my box from MINI and thought.... well MINI's are small... Nearly tore it apart - but no BlueBelle
I'm kind of journal/pen collector so thought the stuff was kind of cool. They sure know how to keep the obsession going!! Got my license plate approval as well... All ready for her to come home now
Scoopmama - I just noticed that you have the driving lights. I think I was not paying good attention to this thread after getting the boot when you were all discussing your orders (although I enjoyed your ship story ) Anyway do you like them? Did you get from the factory? Where is the switch? Anyone else get them? They want a lot of money to put on at the dealer now. I would love to see those critter eyes as soon as possible!

Hope everyone is having a good day. Hopefully I will hear that my part is in today.

And I'm sure yours will be a happy ending also.

Today I call the dealer to set up an appointment to get my delivery based warrantee work done. The steering wheel hub was discolored and the boot window welt was ripped. I am also going to have them check my leatherette seat upper bolster. It looks like the fabric under the leatherette is bunched and folded. It is only on one of the bolsters. Anyone else with that issue?

I do love my driving lights. Usually I only buy what I need, and I'm not a recreational shopper. But Scoop brings out this spoiled princess part of me I didn't know existed. She expects the best, has the garage to herself, demands frequent squirts from Meguiars, and really wanted the driving lights!

I kept trying to configure her without them but she looked bare! They work when the brights come on, and they are like floodlights! Going home at night through Ortega- Twisty, steep canyon and hill curves- these lights are the best! It looks like daylight.

The rest of the time, they're just REALLY cute!

I haven't noticed a bulging in the leatherette. I'm still very much in the honeymoon phase here! But nothing seems out of place or unusual!

Well, I should go. Driving to Oceanside so Scoop can have a Tagus reunion tonight with Zorro! I'm looking forward to meeting Lil A in person We're meeting at this place called Cafe 101- the oldest diner in Oceanside! They have a website, and lots of pictures of cool cars. We'll now be able to add MINIs to the cafe's repertoire!

I'll post pics later!

Minicounter. . .what's the word on the princess? Is she coming home soon?

Had a great drive to Oceanside Friday. Left late enough that the heavy traffic was actually moving at speed limit, not 5 MPH! At first I thought that bugs were incredibly heavy, but realized it was tons of ash I was driving through. Bizzare experience!

Cafe 101 if a funky, old little diner in Oceanside, with a nice parking lot for cars. Scoop and Zorro were able to park side by side while Lil A and Scoopmama ate and shared our MINI confessions and loves! Zorro is a very handsome guy, and sleek! Scoop is a girly little cream puff. Lots of fun to see all the contrasts! I think I cost Lil A some money by the way he was eyeing Scoops lovely chrome bonnet scoop and flashing brake lights!! And did you guys know there is a gum who's logo matches the "S" on our MCS? Now I get to find some new gum! (I'm spending less than Lil A!)
I had no idea how cool the NAV system was. . .I am so impressed! If Scoop was my daily driver into lots of new areas, I would have it in a heartbeat!

We ate at a little table that was right inside where our cars were parked. Three different times, as people left the diner, they circled around Scoop and Zorro, marveling. One guy even came BACK in the diner, looked at us, and told us he's "in love!" Proud papa and mama just beamed with delight, pride and joy!

I'll post a few pictures in my gallery a bit later today or tomorrow!

The oil change went well, aside from 20 high school boys in autoshop hanging all over Scoop and TOUCHING her! Hubby put on 3 different magnets on the outside of the oil tank ( I think they're 50 weight), since the oil looked a bit sludgy when he drained it. Lots of tiny metal shavings, just like Mini2Na noticed as well. He said it was a really easy process on the rack, and will be easy to do at home now that he's seen how everything goes together.

Well, Scoop's off to help a neighbor pick up her daughter. Sharing the MINI motoring joy!

BTW! Scoop AND Zorro are demanding grill badges! AND those little stickers that cover the airbag warning. They want them now! Mini2Na- was it you who got the stickers? Can you find the link? I'll try, but we've got almost 900 posts now! What happens when we hit 1000?

Sounds like a fun Tagus Family Reunion. I am completely envious.

We didn't do any motoring this weekend; Kermit did get a much needed bath though. Spouse keeps telling me that he wants a MINI too, but he has a brand new truck - so I don't think that is going to happen. No time soon at least. Of course, if gas prices keep going up, we'll see.

I have been waving madly at other MINIs in the area and haven't gotten a wave back yet. I am not giving up. It is just too much fun not to wave.

Hi all!! I was going to hold off until I could post a reunite date but...
Friday I heard that the part was in. While BlueBelle (I think that name is going to stick) was hooked up to the 'machine' the power plant next door 'blew up' ( Or at least that's how it was described to my by one of the parts guys) causing a brown-out at the dealership! I don't know if she what throwing another tantrum or what!! Sooo they had to start the indoctrination (assimilation?) process all over again. The service person is back today so she is checking on the progress for me. Of course there is no guarantee that this part is going to work... :impatient

Scoopmama thanks for the details of your meeting - I am so living vicariously right now I really enjoyed hearing how the time went. Isn't it fun to have something you enjoy so much - but at the same time puts a smile on other people's face!! Very cool

Kimberely - I so hear you on the spouse envy thing! My hubby got his new truck a couple years ago and yes he keeps reminding me about the cost of a fill! I'm hoping we can hold out until the clubman has been out a year or two. Or maybe the wish will go away! I'm not holding my breath - I think it only grows... I saw a friend that has had one for 3 years and her husband keep talking about his need for one! I haven't decided if it helps to let him drive her occasionally of not...

Scoopmama: The stickers are available at Aesthetic Creations. I just got the MINI wings. I wish I could have gotten together with someone to mix and match. I want to know more about the magnets and the oil change. Were they used to pull metal out?

Minicounter: It sounds great that Bluebell is getting what she needs.

As for the spouses and our MINI's. It does NOT help to let them drive it. I think my wife loves it more and more each time she drives. She even asked to drive it this past weekend when the two of us went out. She drives fast and hard and she wants one, or something like it. (But what is like a MINI?)

I think it would be fun for us OR/WA Tagusites to get together for a lunch.

900 posts... WOW! The only ones I've seen that are anywhere near are threads where the participants are arguing! NOT US!

And Bluebell LOOKS so sweet and innocent! Ha!

I'm going to order either the plain MINI with Wings or the Union Jack MINI with Wings.

Any ideas one way or another? Exterior is all Pepper White. Interior is the light grey on the upper interior, and black leatherette/piano black/English Oak. She will have (when I FINALLY get the plates!) union jack plate holders. Should I perk up the inside with the red/white/blue or go subtle with the grey?? All opinions welcome!

Would that include a suto-Tagusite (sorry guys spell-checker was no help and I am hopeless at spelling)? She was officially booked before booted off ( I think someone ratted on her)! Wish I could tell you when I'll be up in Portland... Sounds like a great idea though. I am about 3 hours south of Portland.

I did hear some news about my baby Apparently the programming didn't take when they tried again today They are working with MINIUSA tech to resolve. If that doesn't work we're talking another 4 days for a new brain . Gotta love the computer stuff...
A little bright spot - looks like I will be getting driving lights on my baby. (insert smiley attempting to smile)

As to spouses desiring a MINI - too bad we can't just put a couple MINI's together for a while and come back to a third without an additional scoop into the checking account each month...

Of course you'd be invited. We should also look up to see where Janeb0nd and tntmoore have gone to. I think they are both up here too.

Scoopmama: You've got a subtle theme going, but just a dash of color on the inside and outside will set the British heritage off perfectly.

I GOT MY BOX I GOT MY BOX !!!! FINALLY!!

Well Oceanside was Awesome and it was great to meet SCQQP and her mama! I only wish it was daylight so the pics would've turned out better. No need to tell you all about it as Scoopmama has already filled you in. It was great to see people walk by and stare at the Mini's. One elderly couple looked at Scoop quizically wondering what it was!

Scoopmama - definitely go with the Union Jack (and I can say that cuz I've seen her, neener neener neener!!)

Let me know when the OR reunion is. My mom lives in Gates, OR (33.4 miles east of Salem) so I have a place to stay and go up there a few times a year anyway. I would love to meet more of the Fam. I had a wonderful time meeting Scoopmama and her son is just adorable. You can tell he's a teacher's kid... very polite and always raises his hand before speaking Was very impressed with him Scoopmama...you and hubby done good. (Good thing you don't teach English, huh?)

And the gum Scoopmama talked about is Stride. Has a big "S" right on the front. It's the only gum I allow in Zorro

Decisions Decisions. I am waiting for fundage to knock on my door with my list of Kermie detailing. First on my list a Robin Casady wooden shift ****. Next tinting and maybe bonnet stripes. (But color choices are hard with BRG - maybe flames instead.....or nothing?) So much Kermie and so few greenbacks .

Scoop asks to be seen, even if it is just a small detail or two. Union Jack would spice up the interior and match to license plate frame to tie it all together. We wants pics after you decide.

Warning * Warning * Warning

I take my daughter to school every morning and the height of the MINI has caused a problem. When she gets out of the car with her backpack, she has scraped my window film. ARRRG! It was not purposeful, but it is VERY noticeable and I may need to get the window re-tinted.

To correct this, I will ask ALL riders with packages to put them in the boot. Better safe than sorry.

BAD daughter! I'm sorry to hear about that tinting! It should be really easy to re-apply!

You are obviously a very kind, patient dad! I growl when there's dust on my kids' shoes. Isn't that pathetic? Poor boys.
