Prior to owning my '06 MCS, I owned several Porsches over the past 20+ years. I sold my 911 to buy my MINI and don't miss the Porsche one bit. I enjoy driving my MINI almost daily when I don't need to drive my company vehicle. Once I bought my MINI my wife had to have one so we sold off her gas guzzling older Mercedes. She doesn't miss that car either! Plus we have more room in the garage.

I was also heavily involved in the PCA and attended several PCA Parades around the country. I attended my first MOTD this year. In comparison the MOTD is far better in fun and the attendees are far more friendly and easier to talk to. We made many news friends during the MOTD than I ever did at all the PCA Parades combined. Just my personal experience.

LOVE the A4. They always seem to have a nice sleeper-like look to them. I used to have an A4 cab, but then got an MCSc- no regrets!!!! I'm sure you've been told that once you start modding it's hard to stop.

I would tend to agree with that assessment "in general". MINI clubs and the culture is a bit more friendly where PCA is organized, been around a long time ... established racing, etc.

I can't speak for the big mega events as we rarely if ever have the latitude to travel to those sort of things, but one thing I've found is that if you pariticipate in forums and get a local group of enthusiasts together for any kind of vehicle or even a mixture of them it seems it is universally the same kind of friendly vibe and people in my experience whether or not the national clubs are fun or not

A Mini is more fun then a lot of cars, especially older ones and non-sporty ones like an older Mercedes, but heck I'm sure I would have a lot of fun in a new Porsche

Yes, well established racing with the PCA, but the few that are able to do have fairly deep pockets. Some of those guys have some fairly impressive haulers, crews, mobile equipment, etc., for track events that don't have any payout other than bragging rights. The Porsche is a great car with great racing heritage. MINI has great heritage but not as rich in racing heritage as the Porsche.

Oh! Just a little side story, my brother-in-laws wife's father, (are you with me?!) who is from England told me the other day that his father was friends with John Cooper. He told me some stories of when he was a child in England when he would go with his father to what he thought was "Cooper Cars," a small dealership to visit with John Cooper. I thought that was a pretty cool story.

That looks like a A4 i seen in a magazine not too long ago. One you get a MINI youll get over your A4. I had an S4 before my cooper S and not the bi-turbo S4... the V8 340hp S4. It was great (fast as hell... those were the days.... racing on the freeway... doing 150mph+) I was heart broken for a few weeks after i got rid of it but then i got my Coops.....

Motor On!

It is NOT cool to discuss excessive speeds here on PUBLIC HIGHWAYS. Read the guidelines.

I've seen a race prepped Audi with carbon-fiber hood and deck lid, sounded awesome. I love the old short wheelbase Quattro.
So when I read your thread title I thought..."is he crazy?" I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Welcome to NAM.

Gees, there always has to be someone that busts out the rule book... alright, alright... Didn’t mean to offend anyone.
