Another good anti-motion sickness med is marazine. I've used it for yachting. Very effective and unlike with dramamine, it mixes with alcohol: no passy-outy.

And no, I am not suggesting drinking and driving...I am suggesting that once one arrives at their destination, enjoying a cocktail will not put your lights out...

Scopolamine, the skin patch, is very effective too, and I don't think it makes you feel drowsy.

Check out this article I found after googling.

I believe that the Fontana General Store carries bonine.

The no passy-outy is VERY important when you are amongst friends and enjoying yourself!

I agree, I used to use the "patch" but I was allergic to the ingredient (like stopped my breathing allergic...oooh, even less fun than passy-outy! ) but I can take the Bonine/Dramamine myself.

Definitely worth whatever anyone needs to do to fully enjoy the MOTD, right?!

My girlfriend has Meniere's Disease; it's an inner ear disorder. She was such a trooper last year, getting up early to get herself all doped up and get food into our stomachs so we could get in some uncrowded early runs. She never once begged off and we both had a great time. Well there was that time I tried to keep up with Sarcux and she politely requested I SLOW THE HELL DOWN!!!

She knows all about dealing with this stuff as she will be for the rest of her life.

Your girlfriend sounds like she rocks! I like her polite comments too (sounds like my form of communication!)

Hey all,

Does driving the dragon in a Volvo V70 wagon count? If not, then great! I get to pop my cherry with my soon-to-be Mini later this summer (will miss the MOTD in '07).

Mine is definitely age related - I used to be a roller coaster FREAK. Now the good coasters make me queezy. Hmmm. I'm going to theme parks next week - if I'm smart, I'll take something first...

But I have NEVER gotten the least bit carsick while driving - until coming back down the Dragon last night... OMG. I couldn't believe it. But I slowed down...

I'm going to have four passengers this year, and I couldn't rationalize buying 4 CG locks - so I bought 4 kiddie seat strap locks for $2 each - they do the same thing, just harder to adjust and release... when I run out of UJ stuff to buy, I'll pick up a couple of CGlocks...

I think it counts to do the Dragon in any vehicle. Running the Dragon in your Volvo will give you a nice contrast to doing it later in the MINI.

Oh yeah - I forgot - I was driving topless last night. Which was AWESOME. Until I was going around a corner (coulda been Rocket Corner), so the forward direction of the car wasn't straight ahead, and a BIG GIANT BUMBLEBEE that would have ordinarily splatted on my windshield came straight past the A-pillar and straight into my neck and got stuck in my collar. I don't have a real bug phobia, but I don't particularly like them ON me, nor IN my clothing, and especially when they're the BUZZING and maybe STINGING kind... holy cow, that was a serious test of my self control and driving prowess... I somehow kept the car on the road as I furiously flapped my collar with one hand to get the bugger out... and really wasn't sure he was gone for 2-3 minutes.... nothing breaks the mood like a bee in your underwear...

I'm sorry but that's damn funny! (Not really of course but it did just make me laugh out loud!)

Glad you are a good driver! Probably sent by the dragon herself!

As of about noon last Saturday (4/14) my wife, my MINI and I are no longer Dragon virgins. What a wonderful ride we had too. In the midst of a Honda 2000 and motorcycle event we found a quiet moment where we could cruise the Dragon at around 30-35mph and take in the senery as well as the fun of driving the road.
