Oh cool, I have 506

That's an honored number of the 506th regiment which held the famed Easy Company made into the popular HBO series, Band of Brothers.

Plus its a play on numbers with the year of my MCSa, which if you take the number 5 it looks like an "S", hence MCS06 or MC506. Geez...Can you tell I'm bored right now?

Sorry this took so long- my autoinform didnt tell me anyone had posted! (that and working during the day gets in the way )

The royal ruling-

In the beginning we were not able to preclaim numbers. We were more than welcome to say which numbers that we would like... but we still had to wait. I say we, because I was one of the ones that wanted a specific number and waited patiently. This rule and tradition will continue as long as I am Queen of the MMC.

All that said, I am going to say this.

I proclaim soocool to be #500. Mira had expressed his/her desire to be this number, but was not the one to actually claim the number in time.

We can do this. At the moment, Mira does NOT have a number. If soocool is willing to give Mira the number, than he/she can go to the end of the line. If not, Mira will be out of luck for #500.

At the moment, the list looks like this.

499 - letsgofloogin
500 - soocool
501 - Annewithane
502 - namvet66
503 - godskid
504 - pbraun
505 - TsPoet
506 - allenski

I will check back in as often as I can... I do have to work- so from midnight until 630pm or so I cannot be here to rule. All I ask is that you treat each other with respect.

***I have spoken with soocool, and my ruling stands. Mira was informed. The list will continue with number 507.***

TORI's RULING Stands. She rules.

I wrote:

The tradition has ALWAYS been you wait your turn and then claim whatever number. ... we have always found the courtesy between the members to allow the long time waiter to have their number.

soocool, ... I would ask that you respect MIRA's long time request for 500 and just take 501.

I was hoping that socool would respect the tradition that everyone else has up to this point but apparantly that has not happened.

Mira ... I am sorry for that. I was really hoping he would respect the tradition.

Thanks Tori

Thank you for your efforts. Unfortunately, there is always one in the crowd. But, I am happy to say that the vast majority of the Mini owners at NAM and MMC are the coolest people who more than make up for the failures of a few.

A virtual number in a virtual club means virtually, nothing. The behaviour we have seen exhibited reveals what hides behind the mask. Personally, I prefer to know just what kind of person I am dealing with and I now have a pretty good idea. So, the end result is that this minute conflict, which means virtually nothing, has stood as a reminder to us that just because you drive a mini, it doesn't make you a better person. A wolf in sheeps clothing if you will.

I can still say that Mini drivers are the coolest people but that does not mean that all mini drivers are cool.

Nuff said?

BTW- The Fiat 500 collection...

PS-I am going to remain MMC #500 (virtually)

That is a shame...

With all that being said, I will post my claim now and wait for MMC#555.

We'll see what happens...

God save the queen!

It doesn't matter if you are old or newbie, The rules change as they go along depending on who is in charge at the time. Funny how when you try to make a virtual number mean something you find out it means virtually nothing.
Just too funny! Maybe we can start a virtual random club where you can be virtually anything you want to be and there will be virtually no rules because there is virtually nobody to care!
Wooo hoo, halloween was fun, What was yout MINI for halloween?

Haha... you figured it all out, Mira! Search this thread for posts from me (here - let me save you time: LINK!)... you will probably find them entertaining.

Bottom line though - as silly as the MMC idea is (and I agree 100% with you), some people are going to participate anyway, because they find it fun to have an utterly meaningless number. Some time ago I decided to just let them. It's a losing battle, although it can still be entertaining at times - and your post has made it that way! Thanks!

Me... I'll stick to my NAM handle, my Motoring ID... and my personalized license plate. I think they're all unique enough.

Mira,

Sorry, but your wrong. The RULES here have NEVER changed. Etiquette and traditions observed, maybe, but not the rules. I am the one who took over the adminstration of this when no one else wanted to pick it up and the original "rules" were always observed ... first come, first served and that's exactly why Tori made her Executive Decision.

A serious question. You don't think the "Motoring ID", which is also a virtual "club" MINI marketing hype thing is not also silly?

Since you got one, and it is virtual in that unless you read the MINI website, your not getting one (along with a VIN which anyone can get off eBay) ... have you not contradicted yourself?

I only ask that because when they first came out I, personally, thought what's the point?

Just curious
