Help me Identify sensor please!



what is the sensor at the front of the engine directly below and to the left of the mini logo? It is rubbing on the hood and need to try and find a lower profile one if that makes any sense.

Are you talking about the O2 sensor right after the turbo

O2 sensor

Thats the one! is there any L shaped o2 sensors on the market?

There are hundreds of thousands of cars with this sensor in this position, including mine. Why is yours rubbing when those aren't?

good question. I just purchased my '14 coupe s 2 weeks ago and noticed it a few days ago. The vehicle history report shows no accidents, but you know how that goes... I will post pics of the wear tonight when I get home. the reason why I noticed it was the hood was difficult to open and I was looking on the latch.

try to unscrew the tabs in yellow. that will raise the hood a little. Worst case scenario, the nose of the car is needs to be adjusted a little. take the bumper cover and release the bumper support beam from the front and the bottom inside. good luck

This sounds like a potential sensible solution without having to take apart the O2 sensor. Great suggestion!

Yes, check that first. But what i would check if someone pulled the wire with too much slack. Pull that top cover off.

The wire should have some marks where you can tell it might have been at one time. If someone moved the lid or the O2 wire itself , it might be out of plus, thus too much slack and then the bend is too high and bumping the hood.

That connector on the pass side of the valve cover is the connector for the 02 sensor. So just pull on the wire and it should tuck the wire under the cover more to keep it from rubbing. Great FREE fix we've done before.
