And only on one side too Two doors, two handles, two wipers, and they can't give us a light on each side
If you could find a nice light housing, it wouldn't be too hard to place one up on the headliner and tie it into the wiring of the dome light so that it came on with when you opened the doors. Hardest part would be dropping the headliner.

ok... I did it...
Went to Harbor Freight.
For $14.99 they have blue or red LED strips.

9" happens to be PERFECT for around the top of the plastic pillar at the rear corners of the car (above the 'airbag' logo). Comes with about 3ft of wiring. If I had it to do again I might put it right in the middle of the car (about 8" in from the back of the car).
But this was REALLY easy... 45 mins tops. (Easier than reading my instructions).
Tools:-
- screwdriver
- double sided tape
- soldering iron (you could get away without it).
Steps:-
1. Remove the useless light holder. Solder the ends of the led lights' wires to some point on the light bulb holder (I unclipped the fixture so I could do the soldering on my workbench). I removed the old bulb temporarily.
2. Pulled back weather stripping a little bit so I could just get my fingers behind the felt. Threaded the LED light in through the hole of the light fixture until I could pull it back to the weatherstripping. Worked it up to the top of the column, above the "airbag" plastic.
3. The LED light comes with a couple of clips. I just screwed those into the headliner. I put 7.5" of 2-sided tape (yes not all the way to the ends!) on the back of the LED lights and clipped it in.
DONE.
I used the same 2-sided tape to hold the light fixture back in.
When you open the door now... the boot area is flooded with light

i think if someone was serious about getting more light in there you could get all the stock parts for the left side and put them in the right shock tower too. just cut a square in the lining and run wiring across the floor.

FYI... I'm glad I didn't tie into the dome light... not just because its a LOT easier to tap into the existing boot light, but also because this way the new lights only come on when you open the barn doors (and not the side doors or when you press remote unlock).
