Display To Replace Factory Nav Screen?

I have s 2005 S Hatch (R53), and I see that there are a couple of shallow head units on the market, I am wondering if they would fit into the factory Nav screen opening? Too bad there is not an iPad small enough to fit! Maybe an Android tablet? I did try my Apple watch as a bluetooth speaker/mic to make a call and it worked fine on a side road, but probably way to loud in the car (even with the dynamat) on the freeway for them to hear me, or for me to hear them...

Not that shallow. The space available behind the Nav screen is less than 2 inches.

Check out this nicely done job using a Galaxy Note: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...e-sort-of.html. An iPhone 6 Plus is similar size.
