F56 JCW 6MT: order placed
Hello Everyone
It's been a while since I've posted here, however I have a good reason to return: I just put in an order for a new JCW hardtop manual transmission!
This will be my 6th MINI, but my 1st F56 platform. The forecast looks like the manual trans cars will go into production mid-June, so delivery should be later in the summer. Here are the specs:
*Midnight Black, Chili Red roof/mirrors
*17" Black Track spoke wheels
*Heated seats
*LED cornering lights
*Harman/Kardon
*Connected + Visual Boost
*Double stripe cloth upholstery, checkered dash w/carbon black color line

Strangely enough, when the JCW was unveiled at the NAIAS, I spent more time looking at the ND Miata than the JCW. I sat in the back of the 4-door Hardtop MINI, but not in the JCW. Something kind of similar happened before ordering my 1st MINI back in early 2003; I flatly dismissed the car, and then curiously became infatuated with it. In the past the JCW branding has been more about exorbitant expenditure than a compelling value, however it appears this new model turns that trend around.
I look forward to taking delivery of the car, and learning more about it in the meantime. I've already downloaded the ESYS guides and the PSDZData, and have the OBDII/Ethernet cable on the shelf waiting and ready. This should be a fun, if more Grand Touring sort of experience versus the rough and visceral earlier days of MINIdom.
Cheers,
Ryan

Wow, another Midnight Black, Moonwalk Gray, and Thunder Gray, we're all a "non-color" sort a group. It's also amazing we all have Chili Red roofs. I suppose the model-specific roof color is part of the allure of the JCW model.
-->1chaos52: Hopefully you can get someone to make you those concept stripes. IMO they're very cool:

You magically picked the only color for the JCW where you can't get a body color roof! Strangely, you can get a White roof with White Silver, but not body color. It makes me wonder if it's an error in the configurator. Did your salesperson double check this?

It's no error. I spent weeks trying to talk to someone that had any answers why the White Silver isn't available on the roof and mirrors. Finally talked to someone at the factory in Oxford, and they said it was due to public opinion and past color choices. Sounded like a crap answer to me too.

I like the new orange they have. There is one at my local dealership. My wife calls it the Kraft Mac & Cheese car. I would have considered it as well but I prefer darker colored cars.

Right, I guess they are no longer an option on Minis at all. It used to be you could get them on the R56 too. But you guys get very cool looking seats on the JCW standard equipment. True, they're not Alcantara like mine but mine were a $2700 option (heated). Pretty pricey but I really wanted them.
