:: ECS Tuning :: John Cooper Works GP 2 Shift **** w/ Boot

Little things mean a lot. Take this JCW GP 2 Shifter . It has the unique look and unmistakable feel of genuine leather. Its basic black, red stitched-seam boot is a welcome accent in any interior.

The leather & chrome **** with black-on-red shift pattern falls comfortably in the palm of your hand to add pleasurable shifting to its understated good looks.

Fits :
R55 MINI Clubman (2008+)
R56 MINI Hardtop (2007+)
R57 MINI Convertible (2009+)
"Cooper, Cooper S,
and JCW models"

R58 MINI Coupe (2011+)
R59 MINI Roadster (2012+)
"Cooper, Cooper S,
and JCW models"

I believe there are some old threads with modifications for an R56 to R53 shift ****.

Its a very nice shift **** and the red really pops as a color.

Thanks

There used to be some adapters but then no longer exist and Whalen recently tried and failed to make one for a member here recently.

Pop the old Shift **** and Boot off and the new one in. :

Pull you old **** lower trim ring out with the boot. The one that snaps into the console, Some people have used a small screwdriver or flat piece of plastic to lift it out.

Pull the **** part upward and watch the glass sunroof ( if you have one ). There is a plastic sleeve that sits under the connection between the boot and the ****.

When installing the new GP **** and make sure the notch orientation under the **** housing is correct ( shift pattern should be aligned to the original **** ) and press firmly down. Then the boot bottom trim ring snaps into the center console.

Thanks

Shows the same part number for the JCW GP 2 Brake boot as the regular JCW brake boot.

Red double stitched up the center.

We did not test the shift **** in the r58 and R59 yet.

But, Since the regular shift **** manual 25112753783 ( which this mechanically mimics ) is the same in the R55 R56 R57 it can be assumed that it will fit the R58 and R59.

Thanks and let me know if you need anything else.

MinneMIN-

Thanks for the question.

We have not tested this in a countryman. But for initial research this is what i found.

Here is a picture of the Countryman JCW shifter (same structure ) . The boot and base ring section seems to be wider in the Countryman all together. According to the part fitment the factory Countryman manual shiftier with boot only fit the R60 and R61. But it looks like the shift **** head is the same because the JCW Carbon fiber **** ( pistol style grip in diagram below ) will fit a countryman.

R60 JCW Countryman Shift **** and boot that is above.

*So you could fit the **** portion , but the JCW GP2 boot part is narrow and smaller on the ring and boot itself.

Thanks and hope that helps.

It does! So knowing what I know now.....I see that you sell the JCW Countryman shifter and boot. Seems to be the exact same thing *except* the super cool red color :( Any idea why the GP2 shifter is so much cheaper? Thanks, Eric

MinneMINI-

Top **** Portion on the GP 2 shifter should fit the Countryman models. But , Its the bottom ( boot and ring ) that are different on the Countryman. So that will need you own modification.

The JCW Countryman shifter is a direct fit. But does not have the cool red GP 2 top, has more like a standard red JCW with red double stitching down the back side.

Thanks

Any side-by-side photos with the regular shift ****? It looks like it is identical aside from the red background on the shifting pattern.

Also would it be possible to order the **** with an Alcantra boot instead of the red stitching?

The GP2 shift **** w/ boot fits the R55 Clubman models. Which based on your sig you are talking about. The **** portion "Only" of the JCW GP 2 will fit of course R56+ and R60. Its the base that the isssue.

We were talking about possible with the R60 countryman above and issues that might happen.

--------------------------------------------------------------
For the GP2 **** only with a Alcantara be it R56+Boot:

The GP2 Shift **** comes with the boot attached to the base of the **** , it has a slight glue and then collar that holds it on. Possible to slide down the platci collar and separate the red stitched boot from the **** and then add the JCW alacanata boot from the R56+.

There is no seprate boot availble yet for the R60+ platforms. The picture from the diagram was the etk generic picture fro the pistol JCW upper ****. Which fits the R60 also. ( Not the boot ).

Thanks and hope that helps.

***

Side by side:

GP2 shifter w/ boot ( trim ring wide ) in R56

JCW Countryman shifter w/ boot (trim ring skinny and bigger ring )

ok,

You could always mod your own, use the top portion of the GP 2 **** and separate the boot from it then use your R60 boot. You would the top portion of your combo GP 2 look and then the bottom would be stock. Just another idea.

Thanks and let me know if you need anything else
