Has anyone figured out how to add a confirmatory beep when you lock the car?

I have the 4 door hatchback 2016, no alarm, and would like to have a 'beep' when I lock the car ......on my '04 MC i was able to put a cheap but loud piezo buzzer from Radio Shack and used the actuator for the gas filler door to power it ....when you lock, the gas door actuator locks the fuel filler door and at the same time powered the buzzer...there was a thread for the first generation MINI identifying which wire to connect into ....has anyone figured this out for the third generation?

Depending on the software version of your car, you should have these options.

Settings->Doors/Keys->Acoustic Sig. lock/unlock
Settings->Doors/Keys->Flash when lock/unlock

If you don't have them, you may want to have your software updated. If you have an iPhone/Android, get the Mini Motorer's Guide app.

Try pushing the lock button twice quickly. On some cars this gives a beep or horn honk on demand. One press locks the doors quietly and two presses gives an audio confirmation.

That's how my '13 Justa works.

My car is not equipped with the alarm and I can program it to beep when I lock it. I changed it to a flash of the lights as to not upset my neighbors

Yes, I see now that my car doesn't have the option either. I oddly remember hearing it honk, for some reason.

just double checked settings ...in my car there is no setting for an acoustic signal ....

I looked deep into the boot, beyond the inside lining...hard to see way in there to see the wire for that actuator to power a buzzer .... and this the only thing that only activates when you lock the car is the fuel filler door actuator, i think ...

This is really weird, I don't have alarm on my car and I for some weird reasons sometimes when I lock the car I can hear a beep sound, the sound is so so low that I can't barely hear it but is there. I also asked my FG and family to listen and they all agreed the sound was there..

Weird part is it only does that I would say 3 out of 10 times lol

If you could get to the wires that activate the lock on the fuel door you could wire up a small siren to it.

I remember seeing this product a while ago, but the instructions are a bit generic.

Locust .....i tried looking up in the area behind the lining and really could not follow the rack of the wire or even if the wire i was seeing was the one to the actuator ...there is a large wire bundle nearby though

It looks like, possibly, the piece at the front in this picture is the actuator, and there should be a wire plugging into the bit at the top.

It's pretty easy to hear the locks activate when the car's locked and unlocked. Maybe you should get hearing aids lol!

I agree with Big Newt and Lucila. Too much unnecessary noise. My next door neighbor's car honks four times every morning when he starts his car to go to the gym at 5:30 a.m. That's not cool.

Newt ...cute .....but if you are in a parking lot at some strip mall and as you are walking away and lock the car it would be nice to hear that beep ...

I'm with Umberto on this one. If anyone finds a single beep annoying then they're gonna be in for a surprise when they hear my exhaust system. Granted, it's not necessary where I live, out in the sticks, but in a busy parking lot or indoor parking garage it gets a little noisy to hear the lock click.

I've always thought that six flashing lights was enough assurance, but to each his own.

Thanks for the pics Hammer. I'll do a bit more research on the wire loom now that I know what I am looking for. Pretty sure it will be super easy to do and I will post what I come up with. I'm going on vacation here in a few days so I'm not sure I will get to it before that.

My neighbor's pickup truck and their cargo van makes a very loud continuous beeep beeep beeep while reversing every time. I hate hearing this every time between 10pm and midnight.

Oh, and I also think the chirp is unnecessary, but some people just have to hear that lousy chirp sound to be relieved. (my sister-in-law being one of those people) My old 2007 Hyundai Elantra and 2014 Mazda CX-5 confirms locking with parking lights on the first pressing, and only chirps on the second time pressing the lock button which I rarely do.

What MINI (F56) needs is the light indicator, confirming the doors have been locked. It blinks when unlocking, but not for locking.

I never knew locking a car could be so difficult. Maybe I'm not doing it right.

And walked uphill both ways everywhere in 3 foot deep snow here. We were tough and needed no stinking beeps.

resurrecting this old thread ,,,,,,,no way to see which wire is going to the actuator just by looking in..... i was hoping some electrical sleuth would be able to figure out which wire is the one to splice into ....sure would be nice to hear the beep as you are walking away and pressing the fob's lock button
