A must have on Mini Cooper's with upgraded performance parts.
I installed a bigger turbo and Stage 2 dyno tune. Right after that my Check Engine warning light went on as expected. Per an ODCII reader (DashCommand) it is caused by an Oxygen sensor error code, operating over threshold. A year later #1 ignition coil failed (miss fire on cylinder #1). Thus giving me an excuse to upgrade all my coils with Ignition Projects Performance coils. I was hesitant at first because they are expensive, and I was not too convinced with the hype yet. But what the heck. I love my Mini after all.
Ignition Project Coils resolved my cylinder miss firing issues as expected. Unexpectedly my oxygen sensors is no longer giving me error codes as well. Thus the annoying Check Engine light is no longer on. But I am not certain if I gained any horsepower with the coil upgrade, but a few things certain are:
1.) Eliminated Check Engine Light. Regardless of many aftermarket performance upgrades.
2.) Cold start and engine Idle are smoother.
3.) Performance between low to midrange aggressive driving is more refined with no loss of power.
This are my own opinion with no proven data. My conclusion are based on my personal observation. But I know my Mini very-very well, and I can sense if performance has changed negatively or positively. But I will declare that I have noticed positive results, and a self-assurance that money was well spent. This coils are costly and probably overkill for a stock Mini. But I highly recommend this coils if you have an upgraded Mini. But then again this are the best option either way if cost is no issue.

i feel the same, I didn't try to dyno due to the fact with 3 pulls on dyno my numbers will be within 5 hp of each other and at best they may pick up 1-3 hp.
The mid range seams happier , I never has CEl light due to Manic tune
I did open my plug gaps a bit wider due to the hotter spark and semi butt dyno likes the larger plug gaps

Same plugs as you (NGK1422) , I will have to go back and see what I wrote down. I played with just a little bit to a good bit. Not sure if your wanting to talk USA or metric but I think I went to .003,.005,007 ths over stock. Seams like .004 or .005 was the final number.
I dyno 313,317,316 all with a 2 minute cool down between pulls. I attached the video, one of the kids in Phx put together, around 1:28 mins get ready to hit the pause and you can see the pulls some what. I also played with indexing the plugs but no butt dyno feel but the plugs come out a lot cleaner looking so possible better Ignition and burn off.
Stage 3 Manic tune, meth injection.
I think I got mine for 400 bucks , shop around. Vivid racing will sometimes knock off some bucks.

I asked Ignition Projects about the difference between N14 and N18 coils, and this is the response I received:
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your interest in our products. Regarding your questions, IP-A132403 (cheaper one) is for R55, R56 and R57 models. And IP-A132409 is for R58, R59 and R60 models. Depends on which model you have, the factory coils are difference. The price difference are base on the cost of our material.
I looked up factory MINI coils at an online retailer, and confirmed that the same coil is used for a 2013 R56 and 2013 R60, as well as a 2009 R56 (all S models). So I don't trust the response that was received. The coils seem interesting to me, especially the comments about mid-range driveability. I'm at stage 1 manic, and sometimes have a stumble at around 3k and 50% throttle.
Oh well, more research/thinking to do!
Have fun,
Mike
