I'm the second owner with a car that only came with one fob (comfort access) and key. The key won't stay locked in the fob. There's no need to press the fob release button the key moves in and out of the fob receptacle freely.
Purchased a second fob, had it reprogrammed. The key still slides freely in and out of the new fob.
Can the key material be worn? My key had indents on the side, but nothing on the top or bottom. The key does have Valeo's logo stamped into the top surface. The key release on the fob to actuate the holding mechanism. The key moves in and out freely. The key release on the fob actuates up and down, the indents are on the key on the side. With this configuration I'm not certain how the fob is suppose to secure the key.
Mine slides in and out freely, on both the old original and new fob. Maybe have a new key cut? Can I have the key duplicated or is this a Mini dealer only thing?
