That looks good Dave and I remember that one also. But the one I was thinking of is a different shot. He had them in sequence. The guy also posted a video of the rip down the hill, I think.

>>>>I've been thinking about sneaking a Superman "S" somewhere onto my MCS. THAT "S" would mean super, and I think most of us agree the car is super.

Cute. Of course, If I do any upgrades, I might have to go more in a Spiderman direction. As everybody knows, with great horsepower comes great responsibility.

I really doubt it's german for anything because the original cooper had an S model. Therefore I believe the debate goes back further that BMW. I think all BMW is doing is continuing the heritage on this one.
>>Somewhere on the miniusa.com site I saw/read that there was a disagreement between John Cooper and Alec Issigonis about what the S originally stood for. One of them said Sport and one said Special. ....
... yeah, Daytona, it goes way back - but the first from BMC marketting was the cooper Super; they used names for Mini's like 'DeLuxe' and 'Super DeLuxe' and stuck the Super name on the big-bore Coopers ... but the press got interviews with Issigonis and Cooper and their versions wiped out the Marketing efforts for the name ...
... after reading the threads for the JCW 'S' package, BMW may have thought the 'S' stood for Suckers ...

>>When I was reading reviews of the S when it first came out, they said no one at BMW would reveal what the "S" stood for. There were several answers, but they said it didn't mean "sport". One of the words was a german translation for "fun" and another was that it wasn't an S at all, it was just a stylized road like you said. I wish I still had the article...
For those not familiar with the "original" Minis, there was a Mini Cooper S before 2002, and it's S stood for Special. No Lie.

Heres a wonderful piece of history for all of you who fall asleep during history class. Yes, the S is shaped in a stylized fashion to look like a road. but the reason for being an S, and not a U(U turn), or W (for very complicated roads) is because of the classic mini cooper S, a contribution by John Cooper himself. The original cooper S was a nightmare to the car industry for racing because it had a small engine(bigger then a stock mini at the time) but it outperformed just about everything on the road in cornering, thus winning a whole lotta races. Yes, Sir Alec Issigonis thought it was S for sport, but since the version was really from John Cooper, and he called it Special, then the argument really comes down to that a Mini cooper S, or a MINI cooper S of today are very SPECIAL CARS. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSPECIAL. Any questions?
