Was planning to upgrade my pads (along with Zimmerman rotors) to EBC red pads. My Mini mechanic said Ake Bono were better pads.
Thoughts?

 

We've used both and had good luck so if your mechanic want to use the Akebono I see no problem with that.

I’ve run both on my Clubman.

The Akebono are a good daily driver pad, but will start to fade a bit when pushed really hard. The EBC Reds are a good daily driver pad, will dust more than the Akebono, but have a higher tolerance for pushing hard.

If you want a decent low dust daily driver brake pad, the Akebono are a good choice.

 

I second all of this in my own experience

 

I have EBC Red on F56 S and 991.2 GTS. I think it's great pads for sporty street pads with great balance between performance + low dust.
