WTB: replacement lenses for Hella 500 fogs/driving lights
WTB: replacement lenses for Hella 500 fogs/driving lights
Hi all:
I'm looking for replacement lenses for two Hella 500 driving lights and two Hella 500 fogs.
Our situation: just got a second-hand light bar installed along with the aforementioned lights. While returning from the install, my better half did not realize that said lights were actually on underneath the plastic covers ... and she got caught in a nasty 2-hour traffic jam.
When she arrived, I was surprised by the bubbling plastic on the front of the new lights. D'oh! I was able to remove the plastic with a razor blade, but all lenses now have multiple cracks. The lights still work fine, so for now I plan on putting on some clear covers and running with it.
However, if anyone here has some extra Hella 500 lenses to spare, I'm interested!

...about $30 for each replacement (ouch!) BUT...they have clear fog lamps, singles, without covers, for <$20 each!
They also have the stone shields (~ $6), and clear acrylic stone shields (~ $12).
You can get new Hella 500 or 500FF driving lights at your local WalMart for about $70, but they don't have the fogs. DO check the labels on the packages, though - they may still have some of the older German-manufactured 500's in stock, and they're noticeably better (cleaner fluting on the lens). The Tiawan ones aren't bad, though, and either one is worth the price.
PepBoys has a real close imitation round "driving" lamp for less (maybe $25 the pair?), but I have no idea about their optics or interchangeability.
I broke my 500 amber fogs - likely the same thing (lights on with covers on).
Good luck!
