Looking for a MCS 2002-2004
Hi,
I am new to this forum. After flirting with a 2008 VW R32 and then being scared off by the cost of insurance in Manhattan, I am finally taking the plunge and buying my first MCS. My budget is $13-$16k. For that money my assumption is that I can get probably a 2002, 03 or 04 in decent condition that's not been thrashed. I'm looking for something that has limited to no aftermarket mods other than perhaps 17" wheels (although some packages came with that?)...
Questions I'd have from established forum members would be:
a) Is that a reasonable price assumption?
b) any tips around what I should be looking for for that money?
c) anyone have a much-loved car in that price bracket they are selling (must be based within about 150 miles from MYC)?
Thanks in advance.

If you liked the VW R32 why not just look at a used 2007+ GTI. You can find a near new used GTI for 17-19k.

Nice suggestion. However it's really just that my thinking on this one has evolved a little. I am relatively new to the US so I have various challenges on the insurance related to having had a UK license until now. That means that I have made a decision to do it [my motoring] more economically for the next 12-18 months. That means I want:
- car that has taken a fair share of the depreciation already (i.e. more than 2 years old)
- reasonable insurance
- affordable running cost
- fun
- unique (R32 is more unique than GTI though the GTI is a great car)
= MCS!

MCS here
Hi,
Just wondering if you are still looking for a MCS. I have a 2003 MCS with ~53,000 miles. Let me know and I can provide more information. If you are interested, check out www.autotrader.com. I have mine posted on there. If you search within 25 miles of zip 14623. There's an Indi Blue one with BBS wheels for $15,900. I am in Western NY and willing to meet half way or something.
Good Luck.
