Black Wow Developed by a MINI owner for MINI owners...

Black Wow is the ONLY trim restoration product that was inspired, developed, and tested within the MINI community since 2007.

Richard Lin, aka OctaneGuy, who has helped MINI owners for the past 10 years, wanted a product that would last longer than a few weeks or a few car washes but an interesting thing was discovered. Trim products were inexpensive and sold in big bottles because they were intended to be used up quickly as they didn't last. Black Wow was the first product to challenge this notion with the average user taking 4 to 5 years to finish the original 4oz bottle.

Fortunately his father, a lifetime achievement and award winning, ph.D. scientist with over 40 years formulating products created the answer based on several key factors.

1.) It had to be safe to use
2.) It had to work like no other product
3.) It had to last like no other

Silicone is one of the most stable compounds on this planet. There are many myths surrounding the use of silicone and even more recently, competitors that have been spreading all out lies that intended to mislead and misinform the end user.

Historically, the body shop industry has been against silicone products for decades because they realized that their persistence, or the inability to thoroughly remove them, can lead to fisheyes and other paint defects during the painting process. As a quality detailer who has seen thousands of repainted cars, I see those problems from even shops not using any silicones and only body shop safe products. End users waxing or maintaining their cars don't need to worry about whether their products are body shop safe or not because they aren't painting their cars.

However silicones are commonly used by detailers in polishes and even sealants. They are also used in plenty of human cosmetic products for the skin and hair because they are safe and make for really nice feeling and performing cosmetics.

Even the building industry relies on silicone based products like silicone rubber caulking used on buildings and windows that get extreme UV exposure yet they last for decades.

Silicone has a few disadvantages though. It's extremely expensive, and it's slippery. Most companies that sell silicone based products have to dilute the silicone so that the majority of the product isn't silicone but rather solvents. Any spray-on product needs to atomize the product and you can't spray something like molasses or honey. So how do you make it sprayable? Dilute it until it's thin enough to be sprayed. That takes a lot of solvent! But solvents are much cheaper than silicone so it means more profits the more you can thin it out. Most companies that promote a non silicone based product will try to deceive you into thinking silicones are bad, but it's the high ratio of solvent to silicone that's bad. This doesn't apply to Black Wow.

Black Wow uses extremely high grade and nearly undiluted silicones. We only add a small amount of cleaner to the product to assist in cleaning the trim during application. Our blend allows us to offer an extremely concentrated product at a fair price because a little goes a long way. A pea sized drop covers approximately 2 sq. ft. of trim. That's a lot of coverage for a very small drop! When you remove the protective seal from each bottle, the product remaining on the seal should be used before being discarded. Note that each bottle is magnetically induction sealed because that's the only thing that will stick to the top of the bottle when we bottle them!

Typical silicone products are slippery but one thing that was important to Black Wow was the ability to actually absorb into plastics and stay there. Unlike typical dressings that sit on the surface and attract dust and wash off, Black Wow actually absorbs and can then be rinsed off. This removes that slippery and dust attracting nature without losing the darkening and protective qualities that you applied the product for in the first place. That's also why Black Wow has a matte finish versus a wet glossy one. If it's shiny after application, it hasn't absorbed yet.

Since we released Black Wow in 2007, we brought out a half sized version to allow more people to try it but were put off by the high price. This half sized version has proven to still offer more than 2 years of use from it which is outstanding. And since then, we have continually found ways to improve the performance and get even better results with less effort. Pre-Wow was released in 2010 to offer a way to clean and prep trim to remove old wax buildup and previously applied products. We have found that by using a simple technique involving Pre-Wow first, rinsing with dish soap, then following with Black Wow, durability of 6months to a year is very common.

In December 2011, we purchased a 2005 Honda Element with 200,000 miles on it and completely neglected trim. It has been our test car that sits outside 24/7 with various applications of Black Wow on it that we document on an ongoing basis. Ongoing results can be seen on our Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/onlywow

Black Wow started out as a one man business by a MINI enthusiast who wanted the best product for protecting and maintaining his MINI. He was later joined by his wife as it grew and is now a husband and wife team. In the very early days, we used ketchup bottles to fill our Black Wow but that was slow and messy. So the upgrade was to find a way to use a small 15 gallon air compressor and that lead to using a painters pot used for spraying coatings on houses. The pot is pressurized and it forces the liquid to the gun, but instead of a gun, I had a lever that controlled the flow to a filling tube. It would take weeks to produce a few hundred bottles and it was messy and labor intensive. Since 2007, we now have a fork lift for lifting and pouring 55 gallon drums as well as a machine that dispenses a measured amount of product with the push of a button and with a foot operated semi- automated capper, we can fill and cap bottles by the thousands per day with just the same two people. Black Wow is distributed by around the world through a small network of retailers and distributors.

I wanted to personally thank the MINI community for supporting my product and my family all of these years and the retailers that have worked with me to get my products out to you.
