Anyone have experience with suspensions??

Hey all, I have had a set of H&R lowering springs sitting in my garage for about a year now, and when I went to my local garage I usually have inspections and stuff done, I asked about labor charge to have the springs installed and was quoted just shy of $400 plus alignment....no thanks...lol
Was wondering if anyone has had any experience oding this themselves and would be willing to help out with a driveway install...beer and burgers provided...hehe

I installed them in my driveway without a problem along with an H-Sport competition rear sway bar and H-Sport adjustable rear control at
s. This was the first suspension work I'd ever done and it was completed without any problems at all. Remember to cut your bump-stops in half befor reassembling your struts and shocks. I got most of my information by searching how to threads here and on the web. You don't need a spring compressor if you have someone there to help you. Just position yourself over the strut or shock while pushing down with your body weight to depress the spring a bit then your helper can remove the last couple of turns on the nut to release your assembly. Make sure to pay attention to the order of assembly when taking apart to get it back together properly. When you release the strut/shock hat it's not going to go flying at all. It only raised up about 2 inches at most.

You will notice the rear of your car is going to sit a bit lower than the front. This is due to the negative camber in the rear. Once you correct that with some adjustable lower rear control arms it should be level, mine is. I'm very **** and after I had installed the adj control arms to reduce the amount of negative camber the difference from back to front height is ony 1/8". I still see it but other people say I'm crazy, lol.

If you do some searching you will find comets how to threads. If not, PM me and I'll send you a link or help you myself. I would find the link for you now and post it here but I'm doing this from my iPhone.

Good luck!

Chad

Also when you find the how to thread you will find a list of tools needed. Make sure you have everything before you start. You don't need a spring compressor like I previously said If you have 2 people and you don't need the special BMW strut socket. Just use a 21mm spark plug socket with an Allen wrench. You will turn the socket with an open end wrench or crecent wrench and insert the socket through the hole where the ratchet would normally go.

So i definitely need the adjustable rear control arms to re-align the camber problems?

If you stay with your stick non-adjustable control arms you're going to have around -2.75 in the rear. You can drive it like this fine but you'll wear out the insides of your tires. If you correct the camber to stock (-1.5 degrees) your car will sit level and tire wear will be even.
