MINI Motoring Log

As a new MINI owner (R56, 8/19/10), I've started a log of our motoring adventures. This includes motoring around my home town in Springfield, Mo, as well as some longer road trips with route details as appropriate.

My philosophy in keeping this log is:
"It's not about the car, it's about the journey"
... that is, where have we been and what have we done, rather than "this is my car" - but there is a little space devoted to the MINI, too, as we discover idiosyncrasies and service issues that have to be dealt with.

I thought about posting directly on NAM, but my other photo sharing website suits my needs better. Here 'tis:

Hi Gary, enjoyed your travel log and look forward to subsequent editions. I think it work best if you used NAM to advise us as to new postings so we can keep up to date.

And yes you have learned the secret to the MC, keep the revs up, 3000 is a good minimum, keep in sport drive, and anticipate any steep sections in advance or being ready to make a quick passing move on the single lane hiway. Doing this has kept me at the front of the group going up and over Parleys Summit on I-80 and other steep road here in the Utah montains.

Whoa! Thanks for the reminder. I just realized, I've had the new MINI for almost a month - and I've never pushed the Sport button to see what happens.

After driving the MINI for a month, I drove my wife's Honda CRV today - felt like a lumber truck! - so I'll be glad to get back in the MINI, Sport mode, or no.

As for my MINI Motoring Log, I will be updating it from time to time - may post here, as suggested, for reminders...

If someone were REALLY interested, I believe my photo site supports RSS - which, I believe, notifies subscribers when the site has been updated. But, like the Sport button on my MINI, I'm not exactly sure how RSS works.

Hope you tried the sport button today, a world of difference, right?
