Must drive roads
If you make it down to East TN or around Boone, NC for that matter (right off the Blue Ridge Parkway), it's worth the time to take a trip up US 421 to Shady Valley, TN on "The Snake." It's a great little road with LOTS of fun twists and turns. It takes about 45 mins to get from Boone to Shady Valley. If you make it there stop at the Country Store and see Dave & Kim the owners. They are great people and have some GREAT food! Within a 12 mile radius of the store there are 3 mountains, 489 curves, and tons of great sights.
I used to live in lemoore CA. from there going to the coast hwy 41 was a choice road of mine. Lots of nice high speed curves. you had a choice of following 41 or split off onto 46. 41 was the better but 46 wasn't too bad either. Or you could try the coalinga hills.

...memories of youth
I tried one this summer and would not recommend one for a spirited drive. In many places it is just too narrow for two cars. So you have to be slow and careful. If it does not stop you then - half of the road was covered by gravel, so you are accompanied by the sound of them hitting your car's body. Hate this.
I saw a closed turn ahead of me and slowed down enough as I didn't know what's behind it (fast oncoming car is pretty much enough to total both cars as I mentioned it was too narrow in many places). No it was not the car. It was a bike. Front wheel off th ground. I just had enough time to estimate on where particularly on the hood (I wasn't in a Mini) his front wheel will land. He didn't have steering so he was going straight and so it was easy to know where he will hit me. The guy was completely realizing how badly wrong he was. Luckily for me the bike was not powerful and heavy enough. Sort of the one for off road. So he tried his best to brake and not to get into a complete slide, land his front wheel, brake, turn, brake... Whew... We are safe. I could only help him by bringing the car to a complete stop to give him more space, and stay there scared by the possibility to be rear ended by another car. Luckily that didn't happen. I saw other fun to drive cars there, but they all maintained reasonable speed.

!!!exit cali hwy 58 to caliente bodfish rd,continue to wofford heights, then hwy 155-twistathon!
After Caliente-Bodfish Road to Lake Isabella, we'll go up to Kernville for lunch and then back to 155 and over the hill and back down to B'town. Definitely a twistathon
After that run we will be very thirsty....Lengthwise Brewery!!
This one is pretty good. Just don't do it at night unless you're interested in a very quick lesson in Physics from a white-tailed deer.
