Hey all,

Question regarding offset on a 17x7 wheel...

How low is too low? EdgeRacing has a simply designed, lightweight Enkei in Silver for dirt cheap, but worried about the 38 offset. I know this is nary a half an inch, but I'd love to get yall's thoughts.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

If you have the width and offset of a wheel that you know works, you can enter those numbers and the numbers for the Enkei wheels into this offset calculator and see how the change in width and offset will affect your clearance, both on the backside of the wheel and on the outer edge.

Thanks for the quick reply...

I had found that earlier in my search (actually used it to get the 1/2 inch figure), but am still unsure as to whether it would "definitely" work. Just hoping someone might have something close that could advice me, or someone with considerably more knowledge on the subject could chime in.

As far as I figure it, 17x7 ET38 w/ 215/45/17's shouldn't have a problem, but it's always nice to confirm before purchase. I'm running it by my in-town suspension guru tommorrow if I can, but his experience is more general, not Mini specific.

Worse comes to worse, I'm just gonna lock the wheel left or right, and see how well I can measure it out.

should be ok... im running 16x7 et38, 235/40/16 toyo t1r's... slight rub in the rear because im lowered. but otherwise you should not have any rubbing up front.
17x7 et38 is pretty common on MINI's

i personally wouldnt move to 215/45 since that is a higher sidewall than stock 17's. stockies are 205/45.

205/45=92.25mm sidewall
215/45=96.75mm sidewall
also, your speedo will be reading 1.5% too slow.
i dunno... 4.5 mm is it a big deal? probably not... just my 2 pennies
