Hamann HM4's with factory run flats?
Hamann HM4's with factory run flats?
Hi Guys,
Im planning to purchase the Hamann HM4's 17x8 in the next couple of weeks but before I take the plunge I need to know if these rims would work w/ the factory run flats I have right now. If not what would be the best tires (brand/size) to do the job.
Thanks for your help

If you just want to wear out your runflats then yes you can mount them and use them up.
When you replace them you can look at other runflats in the same size if you want the runflats- consider the less costly
Kumho ecsta SPT XRP $133 but it weighs a hefty 28 pounds!
or since you are in So cal you can use Ultra High perf Summer or All season tires like
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 in
215/40-17 $151 fits rims 7-8.5" wide 20 lbs. 23.8" outer tire diam.
215/45-17 $168 fits rims 7-8" wide 22 lbs. 24.6" outer tire diam.
240 treadwear A traction W speed rated
Or in the same tire class
Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval
215/45-17 for $125 each
320 treadwear AA traction W speed rated 22 lbs.

Thanks Minihune,
Most probably I will use the factory runflats until they run out. Once they do run out between the 215/45 and 215/40, which of the two provides a more comfortable ride. Assuming I do away w/ the run flats.

45 series tires will be more comfortable than the stiffer sidewalled 40 series tire. 215/45-17 would work for street use.
