Was out Saturday night (and sober may I add) when I heard the painful sound of my S-lites grindingg the curb. I now have a 12" curb rash along the outer lip. It's ugly. Will this affect my run flat's performance? Any fixes other than wheel replacement? If so, does anyone have a spare silver 17" S-lite wheel thay can sell me? :???:

All I can do is sympathize with you. I thought for sure that I blew out my tire last year. Luckily, a good gouge on the rim was all. Just cosmetic damage. 12 years of driving the same car, it took me a few months to know where my new wheels were!

 

Check in the back of Grassroots Motorsports magazine. There are a few specalized companies that do wheel refinishing, cosmetic or wobbles. Be careful with shipping an S-lite to and fro, with the shipping cost of a heavy wheel and cost of repair, you could easily reach the $225 dealer price for a new rim. Check with Classic MINI in Mentor for smoking deals on OEM parts, which may be the best way to go.
