Does anyone know what size tires MINI is supplying on the R56 MCS with 17" wheels?

For the stock sized rim you can fit the following sized tires using stock suspension-

205/45-17
215/40-17
215/45-17
225/45-17

Once you lower your car you will have less clearance and if you change to aftermarket wheels with less wheel offset you many have slightly less clearance and 225/45-17 will likely not fit.

Safest option is the stock 205/45-17.

Of these 215/40-17 runs smaller than stock but has a slightly lower load rating which is OK for performance use and just the driver in the car. If you tend to drive with four people then it's not as good a choice. The 40 series sidewall tends to be very stiff and not the best choice for areas with poor roads and lots of potholes.
