Wanted to let everyone know that the Bridgestone SO3's are on closeout. They are being discontinued. So the price is great for these decent tires. I have used them for autocross and track days. Just FYI since they are cheap.

What is the advantage/disadvantage to going with this size rather than the MINI-recommended 195/55-16? I'm due for some new tires and this is looking like a good option. Are there any drawbacks to changing the size like that?

 

I just bought a set, put them on in place of my Dunlop Run flats that came with the car. I think the ratio nets out so you don't have any ill effects.

As for the tires, they are FANTASTIC! I just spent two days at Carolina Motorsports Park hustling around the track with 'vettes, 'stangs and Cobras and these tires grip like glue.

They've also dramatically improved the ride quality over the run flats, (I have a RSB and no suspension mods, and the run flats made it ride like a truck.)

As for Alex and Tire Rack, this is my first "big" Internet purchase, (I've never used eBay, not phobic, just old school ;-) ). Everything went great, shipped on time, accurate product, friendly installer, CHEAP prices for tires and install. I'm sold and you should be too! (No kick backs from Alex, just like to give credit where it's due--remember, I'm old school.)
