What tires are you running? Looks like you may have stretched them a tiny tiny bit? Also, what drop do you currently have? You think theres enough space for an 18x9 in the rear?

I have 215/35's and they are stretched a bit. 225/35 would be perfect but I wasnt sure if they would fit without rubbing. I have pss9's on the car so Idont know what the drop is.

When these tires are dont I will put 225's on and I am sure it wont be too long before they are done...lol

9's would be a really really tight fit. there isnt much clearance on the back side of the wheel or the front for that matter BUT if the offset were just right you MIGHT be able to do it.

Here is a first snap shot of my MINI with the 18" x 7.5" Work vs-xx. Will try to get some good pictures sometimes this week.

I would like to see more pics of this car, these are custom wheels, no Discount Tire material.... Good Job.

I like the HREs on Bean's car too

Love this pic for two reasons:
1. Great car and nice 18s
2. I have a BRG MCS I wanted to see what smoked tails looked like with BRG.

Thanks

Nice! Good to see some custom wheels on here every once in a while. To use ScuderiaMini's words, I'm tired of seeing Discount Tire material...

Maxicooper, your car is SICK as well. Diggin those wheels, look similar to the BBS LM.

About time more people start doing custom wheels, not to mention 18s on MINIs.

A question for both of you, how much of a drop would you say your running? And, any rubbing? Saving up to get some custom wheels myself thats why I ask...

02///MCS: i'm dropped about 1 1/4". i had to add 5mm spacers up front to clear the coilovers. no rubbing w/ street rubber. i have a very slight rub in the rear w/ my 225/40/17 hoosier R6's. a slight adjustment will fix that before my next track day (which will be in homestead if you want to check it out).

Hmm looks VERY nice. H-Sports should be fine then. What day will the track event be, I will for sure go check it out.

Anyone?
My car has H-Sports. I am thinking to get 18x8 rims with 215-25-18 tires. You guys think no rubbing issue even rears. How about Offset. It might be 45. Or more like 42.

Bean, Beautiful ride! Love the HRE's! So i take it the Brembo brakes wont clear the HRE's ? I think i read that the Wilwoods will. I want something a little more effective than the JCW's, and i want black calipers on mine.

PortMCS: the HRE's are custom made and i'm sure that they can be made to accomodate the brembos.....the trouble, then, lies in being able to fit appropriate sized rubber in the wheel well without cutting. i have the TCE Willwood plus 4 kit. plenty of stopping power without the added mass of the thicker brembo rotors. i'm very happy w/ this setup after several track sessions...
p.s. see my gallery for a shot of the TCE's w/ black calipers under the HRE's

Well, one thing this thread has done is to reassure me that I do not want 18" wheels on my MINI.

18 and 17 weight with rim width cosideration

Every time it seems for us a client has a rubbing problem , its due to the wrong offset coupled with rim widths that exceed 7.5 inches. If your going to do anyones coil-overs and you have a 8 inch rim your going to rub. Then if you go to anything other than a 42 offset you have smoke if your going to try and tuck the tire. You need to consider;big brake issue, then suspension choice, then offset and clearance with the rim manufacturer, with tire choice last on the list.
Weight on our forged rims is 14 pounds for 17 and 15 pounds for the Uber signature series 18's. But we designed the spoke curve to clear any big brake, with ample clearance even if your going to slam it, like most of the Palo Uber mini's shown on our gallery....
