From a discussion going on at mini2, it appears that these second generation runflats are going on the R56, at least in europe. Apparently they've been around in europe since early 2005 (they're definitely called runonflats rather than runflats, and I think they are named Eagle Excellence), but aren't available in the U.S. yet. Does anyone know if they're ever going to make it over here, and why they've never been released as far as I can tell in the U.S.? They supposedly grip better and ride better than standard runflats, more similar to nonrunflats.

 

I asked my salesman what tires come on the car when you order performance vs all season - he has not gotten the info yet. This is encouraging info - hope its true.
