Who makes the lightest wheel that fits the Cooper? I am looking for something in either 17" or 18".

Racing Hart, SSR, Volk (a.k.a. Ray's), Centerline and Velox make the lightest I've seen.

Racing Hart CP-035 17x7.5 = 13
SSR Competition 17x7.5 = 13
Centerline RPM 17x7=13.5
Volk CE28N 17x7.5 = 13.8

and the Velox's I don't have the info for, but I recall them being at least that light, if not lighter. I know that Volk makes at least one light wheel, so make sure you've seen all they offer before deciding.

Oh--I know that we've seen (on the forums and in person) the SSRs, Volks and Centerlines on MINIs. Velox actually advertised their wheel for the Mini at SEMA. Be sure and check fitment yourself though to be sure.

Yes, the 18" Centerlines fit wonderfully on the MINI. I have 215/35/18 tires on, and because of the slightly shorter than stock diamater, i've had no rubbing. I got the wheels (without tires) shipped to my door for around $1200. Not cheap, but considering the weight of the 18"s and the price of similar performance wheels, I'd say I did pretty well. I got them from http://www.Skperformance.com who have been fairly nice to deal with, although they have made a few mistakes--but have been eager to correct them quickly.

Cooperspeed--here are the pics that you requested. Sorry about the low light, I'll get some better ones soon.

Those look awesome! Did you have to use any spacers or anything? Did you have to change the lug pattern?

Greetings!
Check both Mini Motorsports and R Speed - both are sponsors of this site and offer light weight wheels. I've been looking at Rota Circuit 8s but I sure like the weight of the Velox wheels mentioned above!
Good Luck

Nope! Nothing needs changing/modifying. All you need is a set of hubcentric rings to make sure the wheels fit onto the car (pretty standard for an aftermarket wheel).

Thanks for bringing those up. These are both (I think) 16" wheels, but definitely worth checking out. The Rotas look beautiful on a Cooper and are high on my short list (RSpeed has a pic on their site.)

The AK Tires (can't remember name) on Randy's mini-motorsports look just like SSRs, but are a fraction of the cost. They're both right around 14# give or take, and some the least expensive wheels out there.

I am in 100% agreement here. Lovin' the Rotas.

Personally, I like the Rota Circuit 8's:

I for one like the multi-spoke design, anything with more than like 8 spokes.
